Congrats Jeff & Valjoe! :D It's a great feeling, after a long anticipation, from the moment you plan the breeding, and wonder how it all will come out in the end. That's what keeps us going! :)

Wish this forum had a place to click a thumbs up or 'like' as on Facebook, cause i really like the way your filly is built. Jeff Thanks Jeff & good to hear from you! I admit I'm partial to the sprinter physique and she has a sprinter's chest and neck for sure. Overall I'm pretty satisfied end r...

Nice filly! How would you describe her attributes? What did she get from whom? What do you like about her? Anything you wish was different? TIA Very good questions! First she is not a very big filly, though her mom is 16h and the sire is 16 plus. She has a lot of growing to do, but I'm guessing she...

RR & Dub, I'm sure Zinn has been in the business decades as I have, but due to the inflated cost of doing business and shrinking purses, many are getting out, as evidence by the shrinking fields and foal crops. The times are changing for the Thoroughbred racing, where there will be a permanent c...

I had my best year in 2012 and still lost money. Sold all but one horse. Unless the economics change I am out. There is no way with the current business model that this game will survive at it's present level. We're headed for 8-10 thousand head, a few racetracks and the very rich playing the game....

The business model is broke. I had my best year ever and lost money. If we eliminated the medication protocol I would have made money. Very simply, IMHO, purses need to increase and you have to get the Vets out of the game.. Zinn21, you are right about the vets & their prices are ridiculous. Yo...

He only got 37 mares in Kentucky with 51% in foal, in 2011. I think it's he's moving in the right direction, but I don't know if Kentucky will support him. If Stronach does, that's all he really needs.

I think he is typical of a lot of the Storm Cats, but more importantly he's a great fit for California. They shut his book off at about 110 mares this year and jumped him up to $6,500 for 2013. His sales yearlings average 3-4 times his stud fee, which is great for California.

Here's a couple of pics (not the best mind you) of Tribal Rule, when he was still at River's Edge in 2008. http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/fastappy/RiverEdgeFarm031608010.jpg http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p490/fastappy/RiverEdgeFarm031608007.jpg

Jockey Club Report of Mares Bred 2012

The numbers of mares bred is beginning to stablizlize across the country, according to The Jockey Club. California's decline for example is a modest 1.6% decline (forty mares), so this is good news coupled with the very good sales at both the Northern California sale and Barrett's October. Lucky Pul...
