Red Giant

I thought Red Giant was being retired for next year? Anyone know where he's at? I'm hoping that fever didn't turn out to be something much worse.

Thanks for any help!

Spinster- Carriage Trail!

What a crazy Spinster! Carriage Trail romps despite paying a visit to the grandstand... and in track record time! Model was second for a Giant's Causeway 1-2. What a fun race.

Giant's Causeway sons

Any thoughts on the Giant's Causeways at stud? Those with foals on the ground are Shamardal, Footstepsinthesand, Aragorn, or First Samurai. Noble Causeway is new for this year. I'm a vet in central KY, and I've seen a bunch of First Sams- all have seemed quite nice. I'm no conformation expert, but A...

Storm Boot has always been one my favorite sires. His offspring are tough and versatile, and he gained his success the hard way, with his initial stud fee around $1000.

May he RIP.

28% winners from foals is about as bad as it gets, Reese. Look at the median earnings/starter....for GC's support, his overall numbers are terrible. This whole "28%" thing is completely erroneous if you are looking at his performance in the Northern Hemisphere. I will be the first to say that he ha...

Re: Storm Cat sons

if you're looking at Storm Cat as a sire of sires, I'm not sure how you can leave off Forest Wildcat and Forestry. He can't be a good value-- He's by STORM CAT!

As for value- how about Storm Boot?

Cryptoclearance at 6500 can certainly get you a good one.

How to lie with statistics... it's really an artform. In my humble opinion, an animal who has achieved more at 4 than at 3, or at 3 than 2, is one who has improved. To say that the horse had that talent at 2, didn't get to show it, and thus didn't improve, is utter conjecture. Fact is, if you look a...

There is just too much to comment on; I'm trying to restrain myself. I will say one thing- you obviously have no CLUE who Shamardal was. Didn't do much after his juvenile season? He won the French Derby, French 2000 Guineas, and the St. James' Palace, all on the trot. Not too shabby. As for Storm Ca...

Giant's Causeway seems to have found a niche in Europe. He's a busted balloon here in the US (even with First Samurai). Can you think of a Giant's Causeway that's gotten better with age and racing? I can't. . I completely disagree with you- I think the Giant's Causeways have proven themselves to ge...

I've been around quite a few Hennessy foals, yearlings, and racehorses. They tend to be athletic, game, fast, and very difficult to work with. They're definitely "ask" not "tell" horses. Interestingly, the Johannesburgs I've worked with have been much the same!

He really did sell for 1500. I glanced at him in the ring, and he certainly didn't look that bad! He must have vetted terribly.

In my opinion, yeah, he was more talented and faster than those two. Did you ever see him run? He could FLY. His connections thought he could win the BC Sprint. So, was he more talented and faster? I think so. But was he as accomplished? Certainly not. Trible Rule by a whole lot. He was a very talen...

Tribal Rule was an absolutely brilliant racehorse. Unfortunately, he was also extremely fragile. If his babies can keep it together soundness-wise, he should do well.
