Thank you to everyone for all your help. I have a question that I want to pose, and this question is more geared towards people don't really own, but want to get into ownership at a much smaller level. Also, I realize this board is filled mostly with horsemen so there's a good chance this question w...

Racing Partnerships

Is anyone a member of a public racing partnership (or been a member in the past.) If so, I have a couple of questions I hope people don't mind answering. Firstly, do all owners need to be licensed? Is there a certain percentage of the horse that you must own in order for it to be a requirement that ...

Racing partnerships

Hi all

I put together this little directory of thoroughbred partnerships for partners operating in North America. I'm still adding some sites to it, but I hope its helpful for people looking around to join a partnership. Let me know what you guys think.

Post position stats

I notice in the DRF that they give current post position stats for selected tracks, and no disclosure of that information for others. Does anyone know where I could get that information for every track. I've looked on Equibase site but couldn't find it. If anyone could lend a hand, I'd appreciate it...

My biggest mistake was adding too many horses. Now I'm too lazy to even look at the e-mails because my inbox is always filled with them.

Equibase one does not show sales activity, or speed figures, or registry.

It just sends you an e-mail when the horse has worked, when it is entered, and when it ran.

Hey Pete Thanks for the excellent advice. I have considered most of what you had stated already but the additional information is very valuable. This plan wasn't for immediate start, but when/if I ever do decide to go through with this, I will definitely use these instructions as guidelines. Thanks ...

Racing Syndicates/Partnerships

Does anyone have any experience starting up a syndicate or partnership? I'm talking about partnerships similar to that of http://www.ownersstable.com I have a few people interested in getting into horse racing and I know I would be able to find a few more people to help raise all required funds. I'v...

Horses with injuries

Is there some type of full disclosure policy where owners/trainers need to state if a certain horse is injured, or has been previously hurt? For instance, if I query a 5 year old, and see that he has only 12 lifetime starts, I am not able to tell if he was injured and unable to race, or if he didn't...

Yes, casallc, you are right. But I didn't mean to make it sound as if I never want to be around a horse. I was implying that I am not very interested in doing groom esque work which most likely has a higher chance of getting hurt than a hot walker. As for the apprenticing, I think that is a very goo...

yeah i totally understand what everyone is saying. I'm currently a university/college student studying accounting. The biggest question at this point in my life is "do I want to do something that makes lots of money or do I want to do something that I will actually love doing" Now, most of you are t...

Jobs in the industry

What type of careers are there in the horse racing industry. I am not speaking of a career as a groom, or trainer. But maybe something less involved with the everyday care of a horse. Such as bloodstock agent, or possibly a racing manager. Are racing managers still existent even? If someone wanted t...
