Re: Hill N Dale prices 2015
A lot of farms will drop fees in the second or third year as stallions approach the "bubble year". That being said, I think there is a very rough breeding season on the horizon and it may be worse than I was thinking if Hill 'n Dale is willing to drop fees. Given the drop off in the last ...

I would add Broken Vow and Tale of the Cat to your list.

Re: conformation
A horse that's well balanced is able to use all his parts in harmony with each other. That leads to an efficiency of movement that's very useful in a racehorse. It also contributes to soundness because (in theory) the entire horse bears the burden of stress equally. Good balance is one of the first ...

Re: Just curious
I can't figure out why a Bernardini - Dreamtheimpossible by Giants Causaway - Spain yearling (hip 0596 at the Keeneland sale), wouldn't at least meet the reserve ($70k), as just the stud fee is $100k. Most likely there was an xray or throat issue that would either preclude racing or else require su...

Re: look at this pedigree please
Thanks LB I realized my mistake later. I appreciate your opinion. I was also looking at another mare that was unraced but had several foals who earned good money. I understand about whether has a good race record or family, I'm interested in unusual or old blood lines. They're not always well bred....

Re: look at this pedigree please
Joltman, hypothetically, what old lines interests you and how would you utilize this pedigree? By the way, the purpose of breeding a thoroughbred doesn't always have to be for racing. Since you asked on a racing site, you got racing opinions. If you're interested in breeding her for a sport horse, ...

Re: look at this pedigree please
Unfortunately she comes from a family of not very talented runners on both the top and bottom of her pedigree. She seems unlikely to produce a racehorse no matter how she is bred.

Re: could someone explain why...
Trainers get a sense of a horse's potential from working with them in the mornings. If they don't think that the horse has the talent to run in maiden special weight, they will opt for maiden claiming for two reasons: first because the competition is easier so there's more chance of a win (or a plac...

He has really been fast off the mark.
One of our broodmares is 1/2 sister to one of Warrior's Reward's good runners. I know who my mare is being bred to next year.

Re: Fasig-Tipton The July Sale
There is no logical argument for his price. Thats honesty for you - some people call it negativity or jealousy. The is no value or logic in most sales toppers just ego's and people who think they know better. If you asked someone to give you 550,000 and that you might give it to them back in 3-4 le...
