Equine Herpes Virus

The recent EHV-1 outbreak and quarantine of a racetrack has me wondering if it would be a bad idea to claim a mare for breeding purposes from an affected facility. If a mare gets infected does that affect her future breeding career? Temporarily or permanently?

Re: New Year's Day

Thanks for the information. New Year's Day had a couple of nice colts running last year at the local track. One of them won the futurity.

New Year's Day is not listed on the Hill 'n' Dale stallion roster this year. Ha he moved?

Meaning of "SR" on French sales catalogue page.

Under a mare's produce record the term "SR" is given. What is the translation to English? I'm guessing it means "no report".

Re: Breeders' Cup runners - sire/dam?

I am watching the Breeders' Cup races on TV. The cable service I have did broadcast all the BC races on Friday but will only show the Classic on Saturday. The announcers have been excellent but I wish they could sneak in the horses' breeding while discussing some of the background stories. They did ...

Breeders' Cup runners - sire/dam?

They call it the Breeders' Cup but they don't give the horses' breeding - not even the winner's. Maybe I missed it? Perhaps the Galileo's will get some recognition.

Re: look at the pedigree on Frankel's first winner

The second dam, Well Spoken (IRE), has Northern Dancer 3 times. Very interesting pedigree.

Earnings as shown in DRF

Do the earnings shown for a horse in the Daily Racing Form include any state-bred enhancements to the purse in previous starts? In some races not all horses are running for the same amount of money so it seems the enhancement would not be reflected in the stats if a state-bred won.
Thanks.

Need Advice & Tips for attending the 'Arc' 2010

What does a person need to know to make the most of a trip to the 'Arc'? Will be in Paris at that time so it seems the chance of a lifetime to see this classic race. Are advance tickets required or recommended? Most information on the web involves booking with tour companies that service British rac...

So there was a precedent for naming two horses as co-HOTY. 2009 would have been a good year to repeat with Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra.

Son of Briartic

Son of Briartic was leading stallion in Washington for 8 years. I tried to add his race record but his page is locked. He won the Queen's Plate plus several other important Canadian stakes.
