Walked in to the gate today like a perfect gentleman. Won the Hal's Hope easily today.. I wrote after the Breeders Cup: I don't know the gate history on Quality Road. I did see him in his prior race and don't recall he put up much of a fight at the gate that day. He might have had one of those days...

So what will you do come race day? The pony can't race with him. I don't think ponying is the answer. well I once knew a pony that use to race in the afternoon, with that said I think it's a good start, anything that can get him past that point is good. Don't forget he's not going to run the race a...

What do you suggest? A pony dragging him around the track is not going to break him of this bad habit. As soon as he is without the pony he is going to go right back to his poor behavior. If you are quite certain that nothing is bothering this horse then find someone that is willing to get on him a...

95% of those slaughter houses are run by immigrants - non citizens. I can't understand why that guy doesn't take that approach. Mostly illegal immigrants running illegal slaughter houses. How hard can it be to shut it down? It just goes to show how much the government cares. If those slaughter house...

As I mentioned before, the gelding has no discernable physical problems. He was broken along with three other colts and we have no issues with either of them. Anyway, we tried taking him out with a pony yesterday morning and when he got to the spot where he sees the "monster" he pinned the pony ont...

If you're not going to send him back to a farm right away, why not trying to send him with some good, quiet company - not a pony - other race horses. If you send him to a farm to be rebroke, send him to one with a track and where he will learn to gallop in company.

Trying to get horse slaughter banned in Canada is like trying to get cattle butchering banned in the US. Not going to happen. There is a market in Canada for horse meat therefore you would be very hard pressed to make it disappear. Not to mention the French connection of exporting the meat. If the U...

He will almost certainly be a sprinter. For a yearling, he already has a long back and it will get even longer as he matures. Long backs are hallmarks of sprinters. His stifle is set high giving a high stride frequency in the hind end. His shoulder is 'closed' which forces him into a short high fre...

Since everyone seems to think (know) that Steve Asmussen is a doper / violater, shouldn't that put Rachel Alexandra's accomplishments in a different light? Kind of like Mark Mcguire's and Sammy Sosa's home run records ... Just some "food for thought". Your "food for thought" has a tinge of ignoranc...

Re: Weanling with a BAD attitude, HELP!!

I have a 6 month old filly by Partners Hero. It's my understanding they notoriously have bad attitudes. If I get near her she pins her ears back and grinds her teeth. When I get near her hind she kicks. She does lead but throws her head alot. She doesn't like to be brushed or touched at all. I did ...

Blame the US jockeys for most of it.
Try getting rid of the handlers in the gate and see how many protest. Try getting rid of the pony and watch how many horses get ran off with before the race.

Plus, being in and out of their stalls 20+ times a day wears them out quick.

Good comparison! LOL!

If the area was shaved, more than likely chips were removed.
