The owners of FS have a long relationship with Claiborne, no surprises here. The deal without doubt contains "kickers" for performance.

Bernstein is marginal, light boned and throws it. Malibu Moon's offspring have been impressive on the track, especially when one considers their dams! Their performance coupled with the quality of his 2005 foals have made me a believer. So I think at $30,000 he is a better value than Pulpit at $60,0...

I think Precisionist sired a total of 6 foals...none of which were racehorses. He was an incredibly talented horse, but the line may have died with him.

By the way Sysonby, I completely agree with your sentiments regarding any out of court settlement. It would tarnish Jackson and accomplish nothing.

OK, I remember the original complaint cited California statutes that outlined compensatory damages, etc. Did it not also suggest criminal charges that could be pursued by the state?

If Jackson continues the case and wins, it will straighten out more agents than any legislation ever would. I hope Jackson will focus on the case and not the headlines he is receiving for promoting the currently proposed Kentucky legislation. Legislation/laws do not change behavior unless enforced. ...

OK, I will tell you another reason why I like CTB... I am originally from Memphis and happen to be an Elvis fan (no I don't impersonate and have pretty catholic music tastes). Anyway, TCB is just slighly different from Elvis' pet phrase "TCB". So here's hoping that CTB TCB's the first Saturday in Ma...

I have previously stated my faith in CTB, and I do NOT own a 1/2 brother to him! I do worry that it is not in the cards for any stallion to sire 2 Derby winners, and Maria's Mon has already had Monarchos.....IMHO that is as big an obstacle as any competition CTB faces. Impressive performance a...

I am sure they paid good money for Judge TC. Remember that last year's impressive winner of the Dubai Derby was Blues and Royals, a son of Honour and Glory (and a 1/2 brother to Limehouse). I would suspect that is the source of their interest in Judge TC and the In Reality line.

FOS: I am reminded of a joke involving a preacher exhorting his congregation to cleanse their souls by confessing their sins in front of the entire congregation. As each member comes forward and speaks the preacher's response is: "tell it all, tell it all!" The punch line that follows the last such ...

I the 80's Coolmore went from a standard first dollar insurance policy to a deductible, and then to self-insuring. As petersd said, self-insuring can be done in a formal fashion where the insured buys excess policies or catastrophic type policies (think an umbrella without underlying coverage), or i...

I have considered the trainer when choosing CAUSE TO BELIEVE - Jerry Hollendorfer is nobody's fool and does not have Derby Fever. If CTB runs in the Derby it would be akin to Charlie Whittingham starting a horse in the Derby - remember Ferdinand at roughly 15-1?!!

Another aspect of insurance on a top value horse (i.e. Smarty Jones) is capacity. Smarty Jones could not be insured to full value when still racing because there was not enough market capacity.

Coolmore self-insures with a very few exceptions.
