I absolutely agree that RA captured the public's imagination in 2009 and that in and of itself makes her worthy of HOY. That does not make her a great racehorse however. Winning TC races does not make a great racehorse, only a great prospect. 3yo's are not yet fully or equally mature, perhaps what ...

Re: Great Horses in history never to be HOY

Who were they? At this point Zenyatta was ripped off Who else? If Zenyatta's team wanted HoY so badly in 2009 than her handlers should have ran her accordingly. 5 starts within a 100 mile radius is not the stuff of champions. RA raced all over the eastern half of the US from Louisiana to Arkansas t...

We're a third of the way through 2010 now and the horses that RA beat up on last year have how many graded stakes wins now? RA isn't winning now not because there is something wrong with her or because she isn't ready, she's not winning because she is finally running in graded stakes company not ju...

RiddleMeThis wrote:Zens 2009 campaign did not beat Rachels 2009 campaign. I don't care if Zen races Rachel right now and hits the finish before Rachel even leaves the gate.

It is horse of the YEAR and Rachels 2009 year was much better than Zens 2009 year.

I don't want to be one of those people that bashes Rachel. Ideally, I would have liked for Queen Z to get the HOY, and then for both of them to have undefeated season leading up tio the Breeders Cup. Of course, the only reason why Zenyatta is still in training is because she didn't win HOY. God for...

First not every horse races in a 5k claimed against 19 of the best males in the country. Not the same pressure. Second I'm not against a filly takin on the boys. But has she warranted the risks? And about being compared to eight belles, 99.9 percent of the people who will watch the derby don't know...

re: Derby

Eskendeyra is a clear cut above....... but that doesn't mean he'll win....... just ask Holy Bull or Point Given. The Derby is a tough race to win even with a very good horse. Many variables arise and until they run over the CD surface you never know which horse will take to the track. In '91 as the ...

Hello The facts are : Zenyatta can relax off the pace when comfortably when R.A. can't - she is difficult to control while racing which is either going to get her beat or get her another lose. The trainer knows this. There is no way that R.A. can beat Zenyatta at all with the way shes running. She ...

I'll be looking for an outsider and won't be shocked if Zenyatta gets beat (they all get beat eventually..... provided they run often enough to do so).

I think the use of vodka as a calming agent is the backside version of an urban legend. Everyone knows someone who knows someone, but few have ever done it, witnessed it done, or know someone first hand that actually did it. I have heard the stories too. Do I know if they are true? No. If they are ...

With all due respect to RA; if she was as great as people claim she is, Zardana shouldn't be able to warm her up. Some of you folks think a seasoned horse who was out of training for a few months is starting back at square one once they return to training. That is folly. She was plenty fit yesterda...

Loved his books

An old trainer introduced me to his books about 30 years ago and I was hooked! Some great stuff for those who like to read about racing intrigue while on the edge throughout. His books are fast reads as they are hard to put down.
