I remember when the Egyptian Arabian market went into the toilet. .... Has the same illusion been created about the TB racing world? No, I don't think so. Because, like Fair Play pointed out - it really isn't all illusion - TBs can and do make money. The problem is that it is extremely difficult to...

Re: interpretations of sale scenario requested

OK, so a good race mare who earned 300K at the track has spent one breeding/foaling season at a big name farm, and had a filly by a new stallion. The mare is now for sale Kee November...the weanling is not. However they bred the mare back to the same new stallion so she's selling in foal. Could thi...

Pony Horse - 6yo Paint Gelding - Vinton, LA

Experienced pony horse has been working on the track and at the farm. Will pony babies reliably. Safe for a beginner or child to ride. Also a good trail horse. Nice, flashy gelding with good markings (very dark brown, almost black) and a gorgeous head. Good-sized - 15.3. Loads, ties, etc. No bad hab...

When I bought horses in the past, the trainer took care of this post sale stuff, but this is an interesting point. It would seem to me that it would be in the consignor's interest to do a good job in assisting in the post sale stuff like simple things like stall-hay-water. Well, I don't know of any...

Yes, your commercial carriers will have insurance. I think the standard is $2k/horse, but you can check with them. Insurance premiums are based on a percentage of the horse's value (what you pay for it). Realize that you can only get mortality insurance on a horse that is intended for racing. No los...

Re: shipping

Unfortunately, I think some of those bigger rides are about who you are. I even tried to rent a private trailer from Brookledge for shipping my horses from VA to TN, and they were toally uninterested. Brookledge is usually pretty awesome - it's just that they have their routes and are busy enough t...
