Giants Causeway also had to over come a horrific draw if I remember. How much ground did he forfeit then? He cleared stopped responding when Kinane lost his momentum…he was that type of horse.

Yes Rock Of Gibraltar retired after a 3 year old campaign but that included 7 runs as a two year old and 6 as a three year old. Giants Causeway retired at 3 but had 8 runs as a 3 year old and 5 as a two year old. Both colts ran in every race possible and connections didnt dodge a fight. I'll give yo...

Even though Coolmore will retire them even if they cough once they get a group win under their belts. I think you behind the times somewhat...15 years ago that is correct but Coolmore have campaigned their Champions agressively since O'Brien took over even when it resulted in defeat....Rock Of Gibr...

while darley is a side business, keep in mind that alot of lives are at stakes in that company, not just sheikh mo. he employees a hell of alot of people across the globe and it's not fair to say it's just a game. Of course alot of peoples livelihoods are at stake.....but Darley is funded by Sheikh...

but godolphin does a pretty good job of showing financial restraint, better than coolmore IMHO. when they want something, they usually put a cap on it I would say the exact opposite. Time and time again we have seen Coolmore back out of bidding wars with Darley particularly since the purchase of Th...

It is interesting to see that while Coolmore have not supported Giants Causeway that much at the sales they still support him with their own mares. Suspect next year will be an importatnt year for him.

It is remarkable how his first crop in Europe was so impressive but equally there were signs of fragility in even his best horses. I would imagine Coolmore will wait and see how Footstepsinthesand does in the next couple of years before bringing Giants Causeway back to Ireland. Does he shuttle anymo...

I must be misreading something....how on earth do people not think Rags To Riches is not worth a fortune. She has one of the hottest pedigree's in the world and racetrack performances to match. She would smash the world record fee if she ever went to sale. Even aside from her actual value is she pro...

I thought the commentator was absolutely awful. Listen back to the Durkan commentaries down the years and he is in a different league.

Desperately sad news....based in Ireland myself and this horse was a superstar in Europe not just because of his ability but he had that aura about him...a horse with real personality. As per usual (and not alone on this forum) people start trying to find someone to blame...greedy owners/connections...

why back Indy when he's had a much better book than Storm Cat every year he's been at stud?

The question was between two stallions. I chose AP Indy because a) results are superior (particularly recently) b) value (relatively speaking) for money.

A.P Indy every time. Storm Cat obviously has produced top class horses...but so would plenty of stallions with his book of mares. I dont think I can think of another sire who's fee was based on such huge hype....Sadlers Wells/Danehill broke records and still cost less!

There is a lot more to this than Darley simply thinking of the breeders… Sheikh Mo has spent a huge amount of money on stallion prospects in Europe and America. This is the start of a major push Darley to really challenge the top Coolmore stallions (particularly in Europe) which is something they ha...
