zinn, the headline of this post is, " thoroughbred race times", not work times!!! I was being a bit facetious concerning the time but you and I know a 1:42 is cheap claimer time which might be ok for Mountaineer but with the high cost of racing in CA you will go broke.

MINNOW, I definitely think there is something to the vit D deficency for those of us that are prone to stay inside for whatever reason. Between a poor diet, lack of sunlight , and little strenuous exercise people today are more likely to have bone problems. At least that's what my MD says. My wife a...

In California, I'd say about 1:35 and change!!! If they can do that then they have a good chance of competing.

soundfast, its obvious you know what you're talking about. But, my question is , would keeping animals inside day after day for years, i.e., horses in training and racing that see very little sunlight, would that affect their need for additional vitamin D? Could that enviroment create a situation wh...

dray, horsenuts, both of you bring up relevant and important points concerning the TB industry. Many things need fixing or at least changing to some degree. As horsenuts said and I agree both the racing end and the breeding end are to blame. I just spoke to a friend that lives in Paris,KY. He told m...

I think it would be toxic in massive amounts. I might be wrong but if I'm on 1000 i.u. a day a horse should easily be able to handle 2000 i.u. or 3000 i.u. If anyone knows the recommeded amount please let us know.

Thanks

Have I missed something here?? I know you are referring to Arthur Hancock but when did he ever own a majority interest in Curlin?? As a yearling?? Unless there has been a change of ownership today I thought Jess Jackson was the majority owner. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

dray, steriods have weakened the breed in what ways?? Just a thought, go over to "Horse Care"and read my post on vitamin D. Is it possible I have hit on something that we have over looked. I throw it out for consideration and possible answers to what could be causing us to have to deal with fragile ...

dray, I do agree that whatever strategy RD and KD had went out the window when the gates opened. I hate to blame a jockey but KD I believe panicked with such a fresh horse under him and still had a long way to run. In trying to save the horse KD totally took BB out of his comfort zone. For the life ...

Vitamin D

I just got my annual physical and my doctor put me, in fact, he said he had put all his patients on a vitamin D supplement. His reasoning was the majority of his patients were getting older and with age comes a certain amount of inactivity. The inactivtity in essence means not getting outside and ge...

Thanks for putting in black and white what is expected from each and every poster. It is evident there was a great deal of time and consideration put into these rules before posting. Simple respect and a kind nature will go a long way toward making this the very best board possible. I applaud you, R...
