Native Diver: re: How?, The same way it's always been. If you want to change things join the CTHS, stand for election, get involved and change it the only way it can be changed. From within. You are welcome to try the "OCCUPY CTHS" approach but I suspect it won't work. Failing that I'm sure they'd l...

Looked like a normal to slightly better than normal sale to me. CTHS-Mixed is usually a cull sale with the odd surprise. Native Diver, A drastic change? Who needs drastic change? A drastic change won't make stakes producers appear off the white page... Buyers are happy I would assume. Sellers should...

No worries! :D

I dug around and found that Paulick had a lively comments section after he posted about it when it was released...

Re: Gallop you are right but at least they are publicly discussing. First, I didn't catch it but that the AAEP info is older (Oct 2010). Not sure why an old doc was posted here, but I didn't see it in Oct so I guess it's worth a discussion. Re: It is not toothless. The paper is a guideline. I doubt ...

Toothless propoganda.
Sure it reads well, but what does it accomplish?
Can a track ban a vet for not following?
If you could write these into the model rules, then maybe you can do something. Short of that though, I don't know what it accomplishes.

I think that DRF author is the one with heat stroke. He just called a mile and 3/8 turf race a marathon...

(I know, I know everyone calls them marathons now.... Just makes me cringe though)

Maybe the only thing worse than the low standard of rigour from "experts" or the exponential increase in illogical opinions stated as fact is expecting it to be any different. :D It is the internet after all.

Breeders, like pedigree commentators, should be judged on what their foals do, not what they write.
What I find interesting is that I have never read any plausible modern explanation for Tesio's success.
Correlation is not causation....
I'd take an Oaks winner off your hands all day long :D

http://www.paulickreport.com/news/ray-s-paddock/matchmakers-the-story-behind-zenyatta-s-first-date/ Not that it's very illuminating. Reading between the lines I would venture to say that thankfully pedigree crossword puzzles and doubling up of irrelevent ancestors likely was not the basis of a decis...

I would have thought that the stud farm would be paying them, no? Can't imagine them shelling out a nickel for a stud fee in year 1 or 2 and I had assumed there's a bidding war going the other way to attract her. No basis in facts, but just what I had presumed must be going on in the background. Wro...

Now's a good time to mention something that gets attention every once in a while. (mostly championed by the Thorograph guy, Brown?) He wants TCO2 levels to be published for each horse. I'd think this is the best approach to dealing with this. Also, some jurisidictions require the horse in question t...

I was part of a partnership at Woodbine. The ORC website has all the info you need, but so as I recall: Firstly, do all owners need to be licensed? Yes "Owners Any person owning all or part of a horse racing in Ontario must hold a valid ORC license. To apply for an owner licence, an applicant must h...

The breeding business is tough. It is nearly impossible in a regional market. This sale has been like this forever, so I'm past worrying about it. To expect anything different is a naive. We as breeders are responsible for all aspects of the biz, including selling. If we're breeding horses that don'...
