Uncle Mo as a sire of sires
Uncle Mo has three sons in the top 5 of freshman sires: Laoban, Nyquist and Outwork. Nyquist has 2 G1 winners in Vequist and Gretzky the Great. No shock to see him with some good ones, he was very athletic and has a lovely pedigree. Laoban has a G1 winner in Simply Ravishing. I find that mighty impr...
Re: Daredevil
Just goes to show you that some of these farms (Winstar is the leading example) give up on stallions far too early, likely because they have a conveyor belt of colts. The next hot thing. I like seeing these stallions do well after being sold though. Winstar had unloaded Take Charge Indy rather quick...

Re: Saudi Cup - Amazing
Country House turned out to be a bust... but I am convinced running him as much as they did to get him INTO the Derby wasn't so smart after all. From Haskin's Apr 16, 2019 Derby Dozen: Because he is such a big strong horse and thrives on racing, Mott ran him back in three weeks off his fourth in the...

He was a nice racehorse.... but geez, it’s Beholder! She is a Queen and deserves nothing but the best!

Re: Bricks and Mortar
He turned out to have a pretty darn good year! Surely he should be Horse of the Year.
Was disappointed last year and figured he was retired, then he came back with a vengeance. I am disappointed he will be off to Japan, but I have no doubt he will do well there. Boy, is he ever a good looking horse.

Re: failed sires
I think you are off the mark with Langfuhr, perry. But I would be curious which son of Langfuhr they used and which mares. You can breed $500 mares to Tapit and get nothing... just saying.

Re: Horse of the Year discussion
Too late now, but I think a 3-year-old needs to beat older, outside of their division, to be truly HOY. I’ll never understand the voters - sometimes the Breeders Cup is the deciding factor for awards, sometimes it’s not. Can’t really have it both ways...

This flashy horse looked good winning the Pegasus Turf race yesterday. A heck of a training job by Chad Brown to win this off an allowance win following a long break.
He’s always been a good horse, and I am looking forward to a big season.
Also, how cool to see Exceller in his pedigree.

Re: Paynter
Is it really that undesirable to have one?
I just wonder because if it is inherited, the sire line (AP Indy) is popular and produces very well - good racehorses and good stallions. What’s the downside?

Re: Breeders Cup
I didn’t have a great day, I never do with the 2-year-olds! Brown has another stellar turf filly, Baffert has another good colt, and City Zip sure could sire some fast horses... Pretty nice to see Cross Traffic get a BC winner too. I’ll be posting my picks tomorrow morning, maybe some better luck to...
