The Whalebone Y mutation
Does anyone have any idea what it actually changed? Seems to me it must have conferred some benefit to have taken over as completely as it did.

Re: The Science of Pedigree Analysis
I was under the impression that the "anomaly" of King Fergus was due to a mutation in the Y chromosome that occurred between Pot8os and Whalebone, not an error in the sire line. Unless I'm misremembering, DNA testing was done on Eclipse that showed him to carry the same Y as King Fergus.

Anybody here? Equivalents Report Question
Say one were evaluating a stallion's pedigree and looking for certain traits that could be inherited from ancestors. How would one use the Equivalents report in this context? PQ Help desk says that the equivalents hypo-mating foal shown would have the same blood in the percentage shown as the target...

Re: Affordable Pedigree software
What I'd really like to be able to do is calculate the percentages of Herod, Matchem and Eclipse, as well as the percentages of ancestor horse in a particular pedigree where many of the horses are not full TBs.

Affordable Pedigree software
I am considering a new project. All the horses in it would have TB ancestry, but few would be full TB. What I would like the software to do is calculate the percentages of each TB in the horse's ancestry. Does such software exist? I know that PQs software can do this for TBs, but what about TB cross...

Herod-Matchem-Eclipse percentages
Is there any place that could calculate the relative percentage in a pedigree of each three foundation sires? I know some of the Warmblood pedigree sites calculate the percentage of TB/Arab blood in a pedigree, and I was wondering if any TB site did the same for the three sirelines that survived int...

Re: Buckpasser versus Mr. Prospector
Now I don't have the time or wherewithal to study genetics. But is it possible that: - Something genetic is making it evident that Buckpasser passes superior characteristics through genetics, through female offspring - That it's not necessarily the X itself, but perhaps a combination pattern in oth...

Re: Buckpasser versus Mr. Prospector
I posted this link to the X-Factor thread: In it the author states: Buckpasser is easily the most influential thoroughbred sire in today's pedigrees when attached to the female line. The web site is: http://www.members.shaw.ca/thematchmaker/ You have to scroll down a bit to see the table he created...

Re: buckpasser as a broodmare sire
Gorge William Smith did an analysis of broodmare stallions in the 4th generation with current descendants in racing. He determined that Buckpasser was in a class by himself at the top. Mr P. had an abominable score. Unfortunately, I did not steal his table and his explanations, only a link. But Smit...

Re: ITBF Delegates Oppose Speed Gene Testing
Seems to me that they could just pass a rule that their DNA samples for registration purposes could not be used for commercial purposes EVER and could only be used for scientific research fifty years after the horse was registered. Or some lesser period, but fifty years sounds good to me. The horse'...

Fake foal? For Royal Delta
The DB gives her a 2015 foal named Tapitlyy. Equibase has no match for Royal Delta for any 2015 foal, and they also have no match under the name Tapitlyy.
Would y'all verify?

They used to be in the free information at the top of the page on pedigrees. Now my browser doesn't show them.
Is that I am still using XP, or has PQ removed that bit of free information?

Lustre who raced from 1754-1760
There is an absolutely gorgeous George Stubbs painting of this horse currently in an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. http://metmuseum.org/exhibitions/view?exhibitionId={1B71AE57-AF6B-4C58-A8A8-C9A8E300DA58}&oid=682984&pkgids=307&pg=1&rpp=20&pos=5&ft=*...
