Running where you don't necessarily belong sometimes results in injury. Getting one's heart broken most times is worse than injury. Why tempt fate? Overextending a horse is not in the best interest of the horse and all parties involved.

Rags To Riches was ruined after the Belmont. I'm not in any hurry for Rachel to end up the same way. She'll get her chance to run against older fillies and mares in due time. In the mean time, accumulate the wins, money and status against "over-matched 3YO fillies". Where are the "good" fillies? Did...

It says more to me that Prado is staying on Alma d'Oro after winning on Dunkirk. He won by 5 and it was over 16 lengths back to third.

Medaglia d'Oro

A good start so far! He has 3 winners from 10 starters, with the rest banging the board. He has two fillies in the G3 Debutante at Churchill Downs on Saturday, which is the first graded stakes for 2YOs this year. Who knew that he would have runners this early? I think the best is yet to come as they...

Sounds like a lack of conviction on the commercial breeders' part. Ultimately, if a real racehorse is not bred, the stallion and the mare both suffer! Is it possible to breed the best commercial racehorse? Racehorse first!

Would you breed to a stallion prospect just because they are by one of these stallions or does all of the previously discussed factors trump everything?

From what you guys are saying and to summarize, advertising shows intent on the farm's part to support and keep the stallion's name on the tip of your tongue, but the advertising would never sway you more than the deal, the conformation, the race record or any other pertinent information that you co...

Why would you say that some advertising is counter-productive or annoying? Any examples?

Does the hype of advertising ever win out over the stallion himself?
