Got a bad taste in my mouth vis a vis Bramalage after the Breeders cup when he stated unequivocally (or words to that effect) that the track conditions did not kill Geo. Washington. How the hell does he know? Furthermore, most observers noted that the horse was going bad for most of the way, it is n...

Fantastic picture of her on p 495 of Mahuba's book. Just really...well I think that's my favorite pic in the whole book. She's all dappled out or whatever and with a little one beside her. Where did you get that pic anyhow? Can you post it?

Yes and a very fast horse. Almost everyone who saw him says how fast he was and yet the derby time just isnt there. I know he set records in other races, I am certain he was very fast. My only conclusion is the track must have been some sort of dead on that day. He ran fast for about a mile then com...

Here is a feat that you never hear anyone mention, Seattle Slew, from his maiden race until he won the triple crown, was only worst than first at a pole ONE time ever, the half mile pole in the Preakness he was behind a half a length. that's it. that is truly amazing It's not true. Slew did not lea...

DDT you are correct on all that, of course. Two of his sons also won the Mass 'Cap, like him. I guess my question is; is it possible we will see him appear in the dam side of any future classic winner or are these broodmares no longer appearing? Also, how does his "triple" feat compare historically?...

Mahuba: No love for Marketwise? What up with that?

So I'm going through the book and I happened to notice that this guy Marketwise shows up in the dam side of no less than three famous horses of recent memory: Spectacular Bid, Easy Goer and Silver Charm. He shows up in both sides of Silver Charm. I know it's not unique to see a well known sire appea...

Tale of Ekati is on that list because of the big time move he made in that race in Sept. I dont think it was the one in Saratoga but after they came back to AQU I guess. If the horse can develop from there he looks like the type of closer that could take the derby. It's based on projection of course...

OF course I'm part of that generation that was traumatized as a very young girl when one of the major national channels telecast live the dispatch of a badly injured Derby contestant by shotgun on national prime time Saturday viewing. My father spent HOURS trying to explain the wisdom of that h...

well...let's say he did go 4 wide. That is approx 40 ft. in distance. That is my best guess based upon looking at a few of those trackus projections (total distance traveled based on "chiclets" you see running across the screen) and comparing it to the race notes. Okay say he loses 40 feet or basica...
