Even with the racing disappointment, what a nice ending to her racing story and the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Good luck with your 2 yr. old and let us know on first race. Ditto! You sure did right by your now-retired filly! Kudos to you and your trainer for making sure she has good gr...

Also, we did make a decision to run her drug free. We don't think her feet are the issue as she was hoof tested and came back 100%. We are going to stick to our guns and run without medication. It's something we strongly believe in and we do not want to compromise our ethics. We have always said if...

Need Help to Retire 14yo Mighty Wind

The owner/trainer of Mighty Wind, a 14 year old one-eyed gelding at Beulah who has been racing since age 5, is ready to retire this horse. CANTER of Michigan has offered to take in Mighty Wind, and the owner/trainer was also offered $500 to sell Mighty Wind. He has turned down both offers and is lis...

You can always contact their last known trainers and/or owners and see if they have any information. I hope you find them. I hope they didn't go to slaughter

NorthStar - The fundraiser to buy Lights on Broadway is done. An anonymous (so far) Texan has paid the balance needed. We're just getting transport squared away now.

Bedouwia: We have over $900 now. A flyer announcing Lights on Broadway's fundraiser will be copied and given out by one of the businesses at the Dallas Fasig Tipton sale this weekend. Now that we have a bank account established in the name of the "Lights on Broadway Purchase Fund," I think people wi...

Hi, walaa: I want you and the others to have some background on the effort for Lights on Broadway. The owner/trainer isn't asking $3,000 for Lights. I offered $3,000 and he (actually, his wife) accepted that offer. Here is how this all came about. Since I had assisted him in retiring a couple of oth...

Hi, Everyone. I'm the person most closely involved with this effort. Thanks for all of your comments and questions. I want to respond to all of them, so keep them coming. I have only this brief access to the Internet this morning as I am out of town. I will be back home later this afternoon/early ev...

Lights on Broadway Retired - Needs Help

Hello, All! Lights on Broadway, the 2001 Texas Horse of the Year, winner of over $572,000, and now 11 years old, was found on a slaughter rig this past June. The KB believed the horse was entitled to a bettter outcome than a trip to Canada or Mexico. A fundraiser is now going on to purchase LOB from...

Thanks for that 'phone number! I sent an e-mail off to the Maryland Thoroughbred group as the 'phone numbers for Mr. Meyerhoff and his farm are both unlisted.

If I don't hear from MD, I'll follow up with the stallion's farm manager.

Thanks, again!

It sure does help! Here I was thinking MD meant "M.D." - as in a medical doctor. NOW I know it means Maryland (I am such a doofus!!) Mr. Meyerhoff's information is on NTRA and there are several newspaper articles regarding his philanthropy and art collection. THANKS for sending me to Maryland - it w...

Searching for "Tough Broad"/Robt E Meyerhoff MD/Ri

I'm trying to find out if the racehorse, Tough Broad, is still alive, and if so, where she is. She would be about 16 years old. Her owner when she last raced (1998) is listed as Robert E. Meyerhoff MD (I believe he was also her breeder). Trainer then is listed as Richard E. Small. Any information on...

If there is money to be had, it will work. Well ... it might work. Worth a try. The thing is, as you say, the trainers that run clean have to be rewarded by better purses. Somehow, the track has to be rewarded, too, for taking the chance on unfilled cards currently and in the future. Trainers that ...

NTRA Meeting 5/9

dray - Here is a report on today's meeting of the NTRA Board of Directors: http://news.bloodhorse.com/article/45142.htm What can I do to act locally (in Michigan)? I am not an owner, breeder or trainer. I actively volunteer for CANTER-MI, own my own retired OTTB, and follow racing. Do I contact the ...
