Catch a Bird was bred in NZ and sold at the annual yearling sale where he was purchased for $30,000 by the late Laurie Connell. He was raced by Mr & Mrs Connell until they were forced to disperse all their horses due to seriously bad business practices (which resulted in Mr Connell going to jail). He was then purchased by Alan Flavell who continued racing him until he broke down. He then went to John & Leslie Young on lease where he remained for a number of years before being sold to Julie Tillbrook & eventually rescued by brumbyjil who has given him a wonderful home. :)

We have spoken to the RSPCA inspector in charge of the case & he advises that the RSPCA are proceeding with prosecution and that they are now feeding the horses. They have also made application to the Australian Veterinary Board to have her license to practice revoked. About time!

That's good news. Took them long enough.

I think this well the horse being fed now is crap (its the same way here too). If the animal has been mistreated esp. for such a long time and its health has been so affected like these poor horses then it should be seized and the person punished. No matter if all the neighbords chip in to buy feed. What happens when they stop chipping in or when the person is not being watched? Same slippery slope of neglect.

Informing on their sui-generis genetic value for the Thoroughbred breed may prove an additional help for them and the rest of these suffering equines.
