Talk about a roller coaster ride, and I am such a newbie and probably quite naive, but I thought that these boards were for gaining info about breeding etc. I joined 3 of them, I mostly read, occasionally post. Don't really know how this happened, but I was "expelled" from the Californiaracehorse board this morning for being someone else! I have read all 134 pages of the PQ forum, quite interesting, and must admit to laughing at all the comings and goings of some of those people that apparently were really one person. It was all so hysterically funny. Read like a soap opera. I was going through all of the pages just looking for information on California breeding, stallions, etc that I thought might be useful to me, but all the other stuff was fun reading (even though I suspect some of the posters were really quite annoyed/upset). It didnt take much insight to see who that poster was that keeps cropping up, that person also was kicked out of another board that I read, and I think also has a connection to the Californiaracehorse site. Knowing all that, I still thought I might find useful information on that site, never dreaming that I would be expelled. Not sure why, except that I apparently used a word in one of my postings that was similar to another poster's. I don't know any of these people. I hardly ever post, and probably wouldn't even have posted here except I was asked point blank for my opinion, which thankfully I still have opinions. I am so low-key, I've only got 3 horses and a bunch of enthusiasm. I really can't believe it, I'm so non-confrontational.
Hope no one here minds that I had to have somewhere to vent.

Hi, docjocoy...
As you have apparently noticed, there have been some past issues on this board with some California-based posters. I will not say more than that. Your post was vague enough, without the use of names (THANK YOU!) that it will hopefully not set off any fireworks.
There are a good many of our posters who will sympathize with you on this issue, BUT...
TO THOSE POSTERS...
Be very careful what you include in your response in this thread. This is a highly sensitive issue and we do not want to re-visit the immense drama that can come out of voicing our "real" opinions. I normally don't ask for a whole lot of restraint on this board, but I will on this topic. Read your post and think CAREFULLY before hitting the send button.
Now, docjocoy, I will personally say that I have occasionally read that forum, and there is definitely what I would interpret as a major "control issue" regarding posting. I've seen people slapped down pretty quickly for having a certain opinion about things, even when it is expressed in a polite manner.
However, that board, just like this board, is privately owned, and the owners of that board have all the right in the world to allow what they want to and disallow what they don't want. I, personally, feel that what COULD be a very good resource for California owners/breeders is LESS so because posters are discouraged from voicing opinions that don't coincide with the owners. In my opinion, a board run that way becomes more of a "get together for like-minded friends" than a real knowledge bank.
That said, there are plenty of people who think that this forum should be less open to the complete spectrum of opinions and ways that they are expressed. You can't please everyone, so you have to decide what you want a forum to be like, and the people who are looking for that particular type of thing will join and be involved; those who aren't will look elsewhere.
I don't PERSONALLY like the "club mentality" over there, but that's what some people are looking for on a forum, and it suits them. I don't do any type of business in CA or surrounding states, so a forum pertaining to that State alone, of any nature, is pretty uninteresting to me anyway.
So, let me extend a welcome to this forum, and a warning that things can get heated here, but that's the "flavor" of this forum... we have some strong-minded people who are passionate about their ideas and not afraid to let that passion show. That's what makes this forum "real" and is one reason why most of the regulars are here.

Case in point:
I have already been badmouthed over there for my above post, in which I clearly stated that I was posting MY OPINIONS.
This is exactly what I am referring to. My post above, as you can clearly read, was strictly my very own personal thoughts and opinions, and I even stood up for their right to create a forum with any content or "feel" they desire... yet somehow in all of that, I am "lying." How, exactly, is something that I clearly stated was MY PERSONAL OPINION a lie? I guess they "very much welcome different opinions and insights" as long as they are not mine...
Whatever. To each his/her own. I hope the owners of that board enjoy it over there as much as I do over here. Clearly, we look for two very different things when we look for an online community to be a part of.

Roguelet is lying about this board, not one word she says is true. ........ I very much welcome different opinions and insights .......

I must admit, I snatched it from a Standardbred board; someone has it as an avatar over there. I fell in LOVE with it when I saw it. I don't know where they got it, though...

docjoy, don't take it personally. Perhaps it is for the best as I don't really think you will find much in the way of real facts on that board. There are also some boards that seem to have a lot of adolescent girls who may someday make great racehorse owners, but right now their opinions and contributions are still in their formative years.
This board is friendly and informative.. welcome. You will find some great resources here.
