Who is risking what? Zenyatta or Rachel

With all due respect to RA; if she was as great as people claim she is, Zardana shouldn't be able to warm her up. Some of you folks think a seasoned horse who was out of training for a few months is starting back at square one once they return to training. That is folly. She was plenty fit yesterday. Plenty fit. Zardana beats her three quarters of a length and the rest of the field is 12 lengths behind. If Zardana was not in the race they would be calling RA's race a monster return..
Rachel ran the table against a bunch of less than stellar fillies and males last year. Zenyatta, on the other hand, just toys with her opposition whether it's a bunch of west coast fillies or the best older males in the world. She comes from dead last in virtually all her races and is 15 for 15. Do you realize how good you have to be to win two in a row coming from dead last?

Leaving all of the divisive stuff out about relative quality, that is the amazing thing about Zenyatta. To win as many races as she has with such an unpromising style is amazing. Generally dead closers need a setup both in pace and in trip. Zenyatta turned that truism on its head.

This is what with in Europe and the rest of the world call a horse race.
You guys are too used to seeing a horse jump from the gate and not get headed, welcome to the world of horse racing.

Wow could you be more condescending?
Here's my condescending response--European pace scenarios are so different (as are the tracks) that you are comparing apples to kumquats. Find me another dead closer in America (10 or more lengths out of it at the quarter pole) that has won even 5 in row at any level. I can't think of one. It just doesn't happen.

I don't mean to sound condescending at all.
Its just a fact of life you Americans thinks the sun rises in CA and sets in NY.
This is horse racing, horses don't need to be buzzed up going 22 and change for the first quarter.
Look at Street Sense's and Mine that Birds Derby wins, they weren't the best horses in their field but the won on the day under very good rides.
Zenyatta is a class above RA, thats obvious to anyone, well apart from the HOTY voters, who were they again?
RA is cheap speed, Zenyatta is a classic horse with numerous gears and a fantastic turn of foot.

You might want to look back at racing history before making such claims. Affirmed was beaten twice upon his return to racing as a 4 year old after having won the TC the year before...... he than went on to win the rest of his races and was named HoY. Seattle Slew was another who lost upon returning to the races as a 4 year old. Citation struggled as well after a year lay off. Three TC winners and all lost upon returning to the races.
RA needed the race and was nowhere near her old self. IF she can rebound and the race did not tax her to much don't sell her short in the AB. OP can be speed favoring and the 1 1/8 distance suits her better than say a 1 1/4 of the BCC.
RA was named HoY for her entirety of work in '09. She made more starts and had numerous scintillating performances whereby NO horse would have beaten her on those days i.e the Ky. Oaks. Mother Goose and Haskell. In addition, her win in the Preakness was also memorable. OTOH, Zenyatta had ONE scintillating race in '09 and granted it was a MONSTER performance....... but the brevity of her '09 races is what cost her HoY. Had the vote been "Career Lifetime Award" than she would have won........ but as we all know it is for HoY and RA did more work in '09 than Zenyatta.
