Glad to see this post has caused us to start talking again!
Bottom line is that I want to put myself out there to help all of the texas horse, TTA, HBPA, and every other group that's about improving things for Texas.
I must admit, I have heard from some very nice people from the texas horse group. and I honestly believe that their intentions are for all of us.
The error is looking to the politicians to help us, and not we help ourselves. Now I'm not silly enough to believe that we don't need political help, I just think that coming to the plate begging is the wrong approach again.
I think we should work with the management staff of the tracks as an example. I know i've talked about it in the past, but the folks at Retama had a GREAT idea! I couldn't believe how many people were at that track on a Saturday night, it was awesome!
My challenge to my peers here would be how about 10-15 of us volunteer to go the track and help with educating the new people about the betting schemes, reading the programs and forms, etc.
It's real easy to sit back and talk about the long lines they had, but it's more challenging to want to offer some help. Personally, I'd be willing to serve some hot dogs and beer! Help myself to some leftovers too!
I think we can do some great things for the state, and for the industry.
The posting of the facts from past legislative sessions on the slots or nothing agenda should hit all of us square in the forehead, and send us a message!

How many will listen?
WE CAN'T COME AWAY EMPTY HANDED AGAIN!!!!!!
Singles, Doubles, Homeruns, whatever, but we have to come out of this with something! Well, maybe I shouldn't say something....because the flat wood analogy and the mushroom example, you end up with SOMETHING, but I don't want that something!
