A thread from the TVG message board with several photos.

The mystery continues. Several of the photos don't have the white star. There's a photo of Sham with his trainer that doesn't have a star.

Does anyone who actually saw Sham in person remember if he had a star?

Its been more than 20 years, but I don't remember any white on Sham. The horse in the stall is too heavy, too short, and not long enough to be Sham. I don't have much of an eye, but these pictures in my opionion are of at least 3 different horses by conformation.

The picture of Sham and Pancho Martin is the right Sham. "I think"

I would guess that the one in the stall probably isn't him, although it's a bad picture...or at least a picture that aged poorly, but the others most likely are. I can't see any indication of a star either. The one in the TVG message board has a picture of him as a geriatric, and that does look like an older version of the horse in the conformation shot.

Yes, I agree. The conformation shot without the white, and the one in front of the barn look to be the same horse. (from the TVG site) The one with trainer Martin, is likely to be the real Sham--and I don't see any white on the face.

How unreal is this? There are no conformation, head, or profile pictures of the great SHAM.

There are, but at least one of the photos is likely to be Foolish Pleasure. The sporthorse data base has both a conformation and a racing shot.

This is where the stall image came from. Doesn't seem to be officaly posted on the site right now, but is still in the image archive.

Anyone know Steve Roman well enough to ask about the photo?

OK, I've found my snap shot of Sham, How do I put it up here. I am very backwards and a bit slow to learn. I guess I can scan it, but what then. What is the Img box?

Lots of interest here as his BM sire lines are important.

Question - the picture with Pancho Martin - and also the on track picture. He looks narrow in front to me??? Possibly under 16hh. At a commercial sale today, would anyone be interested in him?

The answer is on YouTube. I love this video tribute to Sham. It contains footage from the tv broadcast, including Sham being walked with no blinkers. He does not have a star.

Sham was sure a good looking boy. Just born in the wrong year. I wonder what would have happened if Secretariat would not have been around?

I'm glad to see Sham is not forgotten.
