Meh. It's very similar than the shots of other athletes - male & female, from all sports - that are used in ESPN magazine's "Body Issue". I seem to recall a male jockey or two posing for that and no one giving a rats' ass.

There was a jockey beefcake calendar made for charity last year (think those fellows kept their drawers on, though). No one noticed or cared, never mind questioned if they were doing the right thing for their careers.

The beefcake calendar was even more repulsive IMO.

This is not a tasteful artist shot to me. It just shows desperation.. She isn't a talented rider who is getting G1/G2 mounts day after day and it is a cry for attention.

I didn't care for Bo Derek before. I didnt have a problem with her and I know she is passionate about racing. I just find it silly to have pulled strings at Vanity Fair to get this submitted. Perhaps a Wheaties cerel box with this photo would get more attention.

and BDW.. you still prove you know less about women as you think when one person makes a comment about what her mother would think and you write it off. Then make a comment about how "if my fiancee did this ..." You only show you can only think with what god gave you.. a man's brain.

Whadyamean? Mike Smith was adorable, bald head and all. They were all hot, as far as I was concerned, each to their own, eh?

LOL Crystal, Karen!!!!

You know, it's always the women in ANY sport that sooner or later once they want some attention, promotion of themselves, their career, whatever, that take it all off and there comes the nudie picture.

Yet, at the same time, there is a cry for women's rights and has been for several years!!! What the hell?!

If it were up to me to shoot that photo, I'd have some whispy, beautiful material attached to some sort of dress, and have the whisps of material long and somehow (if the horse does not go crazy!) flowing in the air by use of a fan. That is the art of the picture, not sticking some girl up on a horse naked.
Blah! Blah!!!

And I like you BDW, you are fun to talk to, and learn from, but I have to disagree with you on this one. But didn't you say you were a guy??

I agree with Zinn and Diane. The picture was tastefully done. She has a right to be proud of her beautiful body.

Hi

I'm near 80 years old (and I'm not a dirty old man) and I don't see the problem. She's a beautiful young woman with a nice body. What she does with it is her decision. I also think that she is a much better jockey than people give her credit for. More power to her.

Respectfully,

Bill

Bdw I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts from a body building perspective. Did they airbrush to make her skin look smoother? I'd expect more definition to show?
women get this idea that if they hit weights they will become jacked up and look like men and it's not true.

you can tell she works out but i would expect to see more definition in her legs than she has.

Yes I am a blue blooded american male. She's quite hot honestly.

It's kinda like PT Barnum when he said all press is good press. The fact is, we are sitting here talking about, a 2nd tier jockey. Her name is on our tongues when otherwise it would not be. Rather you agree with her or not she accomplished what she sat out to do.

maybe because she is beautiful, and makes others look ugly and fat.
