Modiste is out for 30 days with a "sprained ankle". X rays negative in other words; filling noted after a fast work. She was pointed towards Aug 2 and might have races RA's daughter.
Wallydabally just did a 3 furlongs fastest of 15. He's been doing long and slow for awhile. Tightening him up?

Sorry to hear about Modiste. I hope she feels better soon. I take it they are not turning her out?

No. Is it totally lame to send a basket of carrots and apples? My twin 5 year olds want me to.

I don't think it's lame. My Jura didn't like carrots though, only special horse treats for him! So make sure she likes what's in the basket!

send peppermints. you could get a nice decorative tin of them. The "starlight" kind round hard white mints with red edges that are wrapped in cellophane. Not only do the track horses love those, the tin can sit on the trainer's desk forever. Horses generally have to "learn" to like carrots and apples and carrots are high in acid.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

I knew about peppermints...not about the specifics of carrots and apples. Love the knowledge on this board.
I heard a lot of track horses like Jolly Ranchers too . . .

An exercise rider in my barn used to feed all of her mounts Skittles. Never saw one refused.

Well, Haven't heard yet how Modiste is doing off of her sprained ankle, and Wallydabally will need surgery for an entrapped testicle...yes, removal. Hope he can be the next AP Indy if he ever makes it to stallion . . . ha ha, let me dream; no races other than Modiste's first. Silent Glory is training now at Belmont...patience is the name of this game, isn't it? I enjoyed getting my first very small check. Hoping for fewer complications and some racing soon. So far . . .could be a lot worse . . .

Just biting my tongue to keep from asking Gary about Wally's Bally . . . Anyway, he should be getting surgery soon. I just submitted my credit card for my share of it.

Now both were removed after all. the other was in torsion or whatever the phrase was. Poor thing.

Hi Toccet,
That's the phrase....testicular torsion. They try to untangle the twisted cord so as to repair the blocked blood flow to the testicle. If it worked out they could have saved one one of Wally's Ball-ees:>) It was probably so bad, they had to remove the whole sac of jewels. He'll be a lot better off as a gelding (easy for me to say:>)...something similar happened to Honor Code and AP Indy himself. The ridgling problem is passed on through AP Indy and his sons like Malibu Moon, in Wally's case. On a brighter note your Silent Glory worked 3/4's at over the Belmont training track in 1:19.69 in company with one of Gary's other 2 year olds by Drosselmeyer named Kelsocait who was bred by WinStar Farm. Yes...Gary likes SG a lot. Said he looks great. I haven't seen him in person yet, but have seen a work video, and he seems to move quickly and very smoothly without a particuarly long stride. In other words, if they get him to stretch out, it might be that much more dramatic.

Silent Glory is entered as a MTO in race 10 at Belmont Sunday.
Wallydabally had his first post-op workout---5f in 101.4; best of 18 at the distance.
gee, is that exceptional after a gelding? Guess he's not sore no more.
