Janet nailed last week's challenge with Plucky Liege. A new trivia question is now ready and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Krista was right on it with last week's question, naming Sadler's Wells and Tapit as the two stallions profiled at American Classic Pedigrees that sired both the dead-heat winners of a Grade or Group 1 race. The new trivia question is now up at http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints.

After a week's hiatus with the trivia question, we're getting back on track. Paul galloped off with the honors two weeks ago, identifying Optimistic Gal as the filly with the greatest winning margin ever in the Alabama Stakes (she scored by 16 lengths!). This week's question is now ready and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Barbara got all three parts of last week's Derby Trial challenge. After picking Tim Tam as the last Preakness winner to take the Derby Trial and Creme Fraiche as the last Belmont winner to do so, she came up with Bimelech and Gallahadion as finishing 1-2 (in either order) in the Derby Trial and Derby in 1940. I had overlooked that and gone with Determine and Hasty Road (1954), so a cheer for Barbara and egg on the face for me. Anyway, this year's special Derby/Oaks challenge is now ready and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Frost did a great job on the special Derby/Oaks trivia challenge last week, getting eight of 10 questions right. The answers can be found in the comments section beneath the questions. And now, a new trivia challenge question awaits! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Scot Gillies made a good guess with the great trainer Ed Brown as the first Black to own a Kentucky Oaks winner (he actually had two, in 1893 and 1900), but John T. Clay beat him to this milestone with Jewel Ban in 1889. Jewel Ban's ownership kept swapping back and forth between Clay and Major Barak Thomas, but she was officially Clay's when she won the Oaks. (Most likely, the arrangement between Clay and Thomas was a partnership in which Thomas was listed as owner at those tracks that would not permit Blacks to make entries in their own names.)

This week, a five-part Preakness trivia quiz awaits all comers. Can you sleuth out the answers before post time for the Preakness tomorrow? http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Between them, Barbara and Frost got two of the questions from last week's special Preakness trivia quiz; answers are now posted in the comments, and a new trivia question is up and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Janet ran down the answers to last week's trivia question. Two Altazano won five "Oaks" races, including the Coaching Club American Oaks (USA-G1), and she was the first G1 winner for trainer Michael Stidham, who got his first graded win with Two Altazano's sire Manzotti. A new trivia question is now ready and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Frost nailed last week's question, identifying Sysonby as the American champion whose trainer, James Rowe Sr., faked the colt's illness to keep him from being sent to Europe.

This week's trivia challenge is a five-part special edition in honor of the Travers Stakes. Can you find all the answers before post time for the "Test of the Champion?" http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Frost pegged the 1965 Kentucky Derby as the one delayed by a fire in the stands on the clubhouse turn; Lucky Debonair was that year's winner. A new trivia question is now ready and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Frost took down last week's trivia question by identifying Ruler on Ice as the cantankerous American Classic winner whose trainer probably would have had him gelded twice if that were possible. A new trivia question is now ready and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Looks like a stumper last week with my question about trainer-jockey brother duos in the Kentucky Derby. They are 1) Nick Combest (trainer) and Jimmy Combest (jockey), 7th with Mr. Moonlight in 1964; 2) Gerald Romero (trainer) and Randy Romero (jockey), 12th with Dixieland Heat in 1993; and 3) Keith Desormeaux (trainer) and Kent Desormeaux (jockey), 2nd with Exaggerator in 2016. Hope y'all find this week's question enjoyable but a little easier! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints

Duchess and Frost nailed down all the details in answering last week's question. The answer was Man o' War, whose official recorded margin in winning the 1920 Lawrence Realization was 100 lengths. A new trivia question is now ready and waiting! http://www.americanclassicpedigrees.com/hoofprints
