Inbreeding to Somethingroyal & Bold Ruler

Postby quickhorse » Mon Jun 06, 2005 6:05 pm

In my limited research, I've noticed that inbreeding to Somethingroyal has produced extraordinary results.

Weekend Surprise is the best example I can point to. Dam of Summer Squall, A P Indy, Honor Grades, Tiger Ridge and Welcome Surprise.

But what I really noticed is that when you add the additional cross with Bold Ruler, things get even better. Charismatic is inbred to both. The 8 million yearling by Storm Cat/Welcome Surprise is inbred to both.

Anyone else know other horses that are inbred to both of SECRETARIAT's parents? Anyone else notice that inbreeding to the parents of a great horse producing good results?

I know about the female inbreeding strategy, but I am thinking inbreeding to both the sire and dam of a great horse might have some above average results.

Check out Indy Mood's pedigree. He's got Secretariat and his full sister Syrian Sea in there, so I guess he would qualify as an example of what you're looking for.

Its funny Roguelet, your stallion immediately came to mind. I must say i'm a big believer in the RF theory... my filly Coquinerie is inbred to Special.

That is in fact what I am looking for. Didn't know I'd find a stallion owner posting. Cool.

WOW! I just found another...

Unbridled is inbred to both parents of Dr. Fager.

I own the book rights to this new theory. And I am starting a new consulting business that will help stallion owners find mares that make the resulting foal fit the theory.

If thats what you're after check out Quiet American. That's some close inbreeding to a bluehen and top sire that worked out well on both the track and in the breeding shed.

The Bold Ruler (Phalaris) sireline and Somethingroyal (Prince Rose) sire line are and outcross from each other. Both of these sire lines have produced superior nicks as they are a positive bloodline affinity.

The more research you do will uncover the gold nuggets that have come down with this cross.

One of the nice things about Indy Mood's pedigree is that he is tail female to the conduit, Bill And Coo, through Somethingroyal, just like Secretariat, and Sir Gaylord. Alleged and Busted trace to Bill And Coo via another branch. Great source of stamina. The Northwest based sire, Matricule, is also from this family.

Also just noticed through my own poking around that Raise A Native is tail female to Bill and Coo and we all know what that ends up building into.

Different Bill And Coo's. Raise a Native is from family 8f, conduit mare Padula (1906) The Bill And Coo that is the conduit of Secretariat, et al, is the 1909 version, family 2s.

Hi Bill,

How is Matricule doing as a sire?

He's doing pretty well. His first three starters all won, and his babies are quite good looking. He's a great big guy with a lot of presence. He's at Allaire Farm along with Polish Gift, and Consigliere.

They have Matricule listed @ 17h . . .he is a big boy. I wonder why he didn't race in his 3rd and 5th year??

Hi T

You know, Barbara Meeking told me why he had the gaps, but I can't recall what it was, and I guess I didn't note it. Next time I see her I'll ask again. I have a mare at Allaire that was just pronounced in foal to Polish Gift, so I'll be talking to her soon. Matricule definitely is a full 17 hands.
