On Time Delivery!!

Postby madelyn » Fri Jan 06, 2006 5:06 am

Our first foal of 2006 arrived about 2:00 am this morning! The mare, Ground Queen, took on one cover January 31st, 2005 and so January 6th was her "due date".. talk about punctual. Of course I spent ALL day yesterday hovering anxiously over the mare, a maiden, who looked so imminent as to pop any second. Then, around 12:40 am, I crashed for a couple of hours and naturally, when I got back into the barn, there was a brand new filly, still wet. Mom needed a little relaxer shot to let the filly nurse; I guess the build up was so bad it sort of hurt and so I had to tranq her and then massage her, knock off the beads and start the milk. All told I spent about four hours in the stall with them; filly had three naps, four meals, etc. She got SO PLEASED with herself when she could get up on the first try she did it again and again and squealed a lot!

I fixed the pics! Made them smaller and strung them out like a mini-gallery.

What a cutie!! Congrats. We have our first one due this month on the 17th. So excited because it will be my first time on foal watch!

(BTW webshots is such a pain to post pics within the body of a thread, if you right click then highlight properties paste those to your address bar then back click pics will show up. hope that made sense?)

Yup it is a pain, and that is exactly what I did.. the first time, though, they were big and probably took time to load.

Sheikh, unfortunately I had to use Webshots, which tries to bombard you with popups (I killed them all but it took awhile) and maybe it is your firewall indeed.
