The pm feature is a very much needed part of this great message board, especially as some of our communications would only put the rest of you guys in a coma. Do not let the spammers intimidate you and we can do the rest via the delete button. On my own email address I used to get 25 messages and one spam but over the past couple of years the odds have reversed entirely so I figure nowadays we all just tune it out and carry on. So onward and upwards Roguelet.

Personally, there were one or two occasions I would have liked to be able to figure out how to PM the same PM to several people.
I don't know how they are doing it. Must be a lot of work.
Persistent people like the ones that we've had trouble with in the past, need the switch flipped in their brain! No amount of switch flipping on the computer will really help, except to accomplish what they want...to piss everyone off and make us have to twist and turn to avoid them.
Delete, delete, delete. That, and possibly require credit card or valid physical mail address to register, where they must sign an agreement that anyone using the PM's for spam or advertising will be billed for ADVERTISING
Life is full of pains in the behind. Its all in the importance you give them, as to how much you suffer from them. I have to remind myself of that constantly
Perhaps a requirement for registering should be a signed permission slip from the Court-appointed Psychiatrist

Thank you to those who have responded here as well as those who responded privately for fear of incurring the wrath of the spammer due to a public response. Fear not, I'm not disabling PMs... but I may suggest to the powers that be that it's time to make it more difficult for new posters to sign up. Of course it's ultimately their decision, not mine, so all I can do is forward suggestions.

I believe that the pm system provides a barrier such that I don't have to reveal my identity to anyone. I would far rather get spammed on what I consider a relatively safe system from the point of view of privacy than get spammed on my own email system.
Compared to the amount of spam I get on email I get very little on the pm system here and would be quite happy to keep it as it is, as I use the pm system a lot.

Lousy idea. I use Yahoo and I think banning "free" email isn't terribly fair. AOL is bad for spamming and Yahoo never gives me a problem so why should I have to change emails? Esp. when I personally haven't been spammed in a long time.
