Sometimes I think we forget how dangerous of a job these men and women have, and how they put their lives on the line each time they get a leg up.
My prayer is for this and every rider!
Anyone know how Jacqueline is doing after her fall I believe it was Tuesday afternoon?
Rider from Del Park- prayers needed

Wanted to post a quick update:
The surgery on his face did go well. He is up and moving around now, speaking though his jaw is wired and I can't understand him well personally, but others can, and apparently his spanish is quite good.
His memory on the other hand is not. He is very confused, and when his brother tells him something one day, he does not remember it the next. His girlfriend goes to visit him every day, yet he doesn't remember the next day that she has been by his side every day since going into the hospital.
They did move him to a rehab center, and they will begin working on his memory. It is all in there, he is just having a hard time accessing it.

Racing and retraining.
Thank you for the update doublete. I hope he continues to recover as well as he has up to this point. Head trauma is one of those things that perplex even the best in medicine today.
Prayers for Eugene and all those that care deeply about him for a complete and quick recovery!

trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while.
Thanks for the update and very glad to hear he is able to communicate so well. That is a very good sign. The issue with near-term/short-term memory you describe is fairly common in cases of head trauma and with time his brain will complete it's task of sorting out past and current events that are a jumble now - then he will be 100% or very nearly so I think. Right now his brain is literally undergoing a huge strain as it attempts to reveiw/re-sort/categorize/relate all the information that is stored there as 'memory' - new inputs just don't have the same priority as getting through all the older information and memories. I imagine there is still some brain swelling to contend with as well - all of which works to interfere with one's memory capability. This process can take months and is very much facillitated by the rehabilitation programs such as he's now been referred to.
Eugene is a very very blessed man to have survived such an injury and be in such good shape so soon after - it speaks well for his enjoying a full recovery.
I wish him well in his recovery and rehabilitation.
