News recently announced two of our greatest racing bloodlines are set to produce one extraordinary blueblood.

Triple Melbourne Cup Champion, Makybe Diva, is in foal to Black Caviar's multiple Group 1 winning half-brother, All Too Hard, who was also recently announced Australian Champion 3YO for the 2012/13 racing season.

This will be one very popular filly/colt!

Australia's greatest ever trainer and 12-time Melbourne Cup winner, Bart Cummings, is 86 today.

Happy Birthday Bart!

Bart's stable favourite Precedence will be going for three on end on Saturday at Caulfield in the Gr 2 Zipping Classic (2400m).

Precedence missed out by one - he was 25th in order of entry - of starting in his fourth consecutive Melbourne Cup.

He made amends by winning the $300,000 Gr 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) on Saturday which also carried a $100,000 bonus for being balloted from the Melbourne Cup.

Bart's son Anthony, fittingly won the Happy Birthday Bart Cummings maiden (2100m) today at Gosford.

RACING INDUSTRY WELCOMES BABY CAVIAR

The Australian racing industry is celebrating its most anticipated arrival with Black Caviar giving birth to her first foal overnight.

The champion racehorse, unbeaten in 25 starts, delivered a filly by leading stallion Exceed And Excel at an undisclosed location in New South Wales.

The bay filly, who has a small white marking on her forehead and small ‘white socks’ on her front feet, was born without complications.

Managing part-owner Neil Werrett has issued the following statement on behalf of his fellow owners;

“She was a champion on the track and she’s proved to be a champion mum with the safe arrival of her first foal overnight,” Werrett said.

“We’re incredibly proud that she’s given birth to a filly and equally delighted that both Black Caviar and her foal are healthy and doing well.

“We wish to thank the team that have nurtured her so well throughout her pregnancy and ensured the safe delivery of the filly.

“Black Caviar was the people’s horse and we are looking forward to sharing this filly’s journey with the people of Australia.

“It will be a long and patient road from birth to racetrack so at this time we are revelling in the excitement of being proud parents.”

What happened to Black Caviar's half brother "Jimmy"? Did he survive the spider bite?

Vale Takeover Target

In the same week which brought him worldwide recognition for winning the 2006 Group 2 (now Gr 1) King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot - the champion was found injured in has paddock this morning and sadly euthanised.

His courageous feats on the track will live on forever especially for this writer thanks to Pedigree Query and its great members who made the journey so much more unforgettable.

RIP great racing warrior.

Your mate,

Arga

Hi Arga,
Such a shame to lose him in a paddock accident. May he rest in peace. TJ

So sorry Arganaut. I always loved your posts about Takeover Target and thought of you immediately when I heard the sad news.
