Another Know It All Knows Nothing
Almost like a chemist giving his opinion on why Sushi is no good. Telender makes me sick, really does. What the heck does he really know. If you dont know much about a sport, dont comment on it, unqaulified and useless. Telender was always an SI wanna be know it all. Generailzes the whole sport on whats happening at Arlington, and they have worked to try and find what the cause could be, If he is so worried about the welfare of equines, would not you think he should write about horse slaughter?

Not in this country.

Scroll down halfway to the last question about whether or not horses would still be used in pet food if slaughter is banned. This isn't the only anti-slaughter website that will tell you this, either.

You would think that someone who lives in an agricultural state like Illinois would know what rendering is. What it most certainly is not, as he stated is sending them to the slaughterhouse so that they can be processed for consumption....human or otherwise. Actually in my mind although it is a shame that the horses broke down while suffering a life ending injury, they are much more fortunate than their counterparts in Dekalb, Ill. If that retard author wants to see real carnage, he doesn't even have to leave his own state.

I was refering to the comment made about the animals that are destroyed not being able to be "rendered" and if you doubt me on the use of euthanized animals in pet food-research it a bit-you'll start making you're own pet food.
I thought you meant that horses could still legally be used in pet food, like they were 40 years ago. I know that some of them are snuck into pet food with all the other crap that shouldn't be there. (Where's the barf smiley?) I was fired up after reading that j&%%&**'s blatherings that got published, and I couldn't read or think straight. He went on like all that was in Alpo any more was broke-down claimers. My apologies.
Meanwhile, I'm going to take a crack at this idiot who obviously only pays attention to Arlington for the betting. One of my journalistic pet peeves are people who write rants, call them "editorials", and offer no solution to what they're complaining about. I'm also tired of reading other message boards with horse lovers saying "Oh, the poor horses! Close the track! Hang the track officials!" They aren't looking into the trainers, the owners, the vets, or the horses themselves. If nothing else, I'll feel better getting it out.

This is close to a pet peeve of mine. On some boards I've read, no matter how long a race horse has been retired, no matter how many careers or owners he's had in the interim, no matter how many years he spent in someone's backyard, it's always perceived to be a black eye for racing if he turns up at some weekly auction somewhere.

They had horse meat dog food in 1995, a company here in Mi manufactured it "Langs" brand horse meat. We had sick dogs at work that wouldn't eat anything else.
