Fabulous Names!

Postby Toccet02 » Tue Nov 28, 2006 10:42 am

OK---to start a thread opposite to "name shame", how about names that have struck you as great, tickled you, or just fascinated?

I love Pink Viper. I'm not a color pink or a snake fan, but it sounds good, calls up a totally unexpected strange image, and looks good written. Plus if he does well we can get some new Vipers instead of all these damn Cats!

I waited a few years to get a spunky filly with a diva attitude so I could bestow my favorite name on her

One of my favorites is "Chicks Want Me". I also like "Looking For Chicks". (Both are AQHA.)

My current favorite is a friend's yearling colt's name, summing up their "fatigue" in the breeding business. He's by Louis Quatorze:
DARNIER BAROQUE.

I was trying to find pictures of Little Missouri offspring because I am currently convinced they all look a like.

Anyway, found this which made a GROAN:

Daughter of Little Missouri:

Little Miss Hurry

Apparently she was pulled out of the New Holland slaughter pen.

One of my favorite names is one I was able to get for a colt out of a Feeling Gallant mare who died when the colt was five days old. I was able to get a wonderful paint nurse mare, who thought he was beautiful and he thrived despite the loss of his dam. His name, Feeling Fortunate. Indeed he was! He is now a two year old.

I always wanted to know the story behind that name.

Hmmm, good question. There are too many that I like, mainly champs of old.

Knew a QH by the name of Raygay Cowboy.

Gotta think hard on this one folks....

Oh that's great.
I am watching a yearling by Put it Back and out of Restraining order...
because I always joke with my husband that he never puts anything away and I tell him he can't meet the kids till they're 18 because he's such a scamp, he'll be a bad influence.
That's a foal for us!
