El Prado to $100k

I'm going to assume the breeders think the recession is coming to an end. Seems like there are more and more horses going to $100k again, or are they just trying to fill the ranks of the elite who keep dying/get pensioned?

Who all have we lost this year?

That seems a little steep to me. Aside from being known as mostly a turf sire, I'm not sure El Prado does well enough at the sales to justify breeders spending that amount to breed to him. But I imagine Stronach thinks he can fill his book or he wouldn't have raised the fee.

I wish they would just ship El Prado here. It would be so much easier- and he'd be priced STERLING! not $$$! (Need an eyebrow wiggle)

I am experiencing deja vus all over again!

25 years ago, double digit increases in the yearling market led to this same kind of hyper-inflation in stud fees. The only real difference is that fees at ALL levels participated in the jump, not just the top tier. We can expect this rise to continue until the yearling market downturns again, just as it did in 1982. Then they'll be discounting the seasons big time!

They're selling well, the average earnings are there and he's over the 75% starters/50% winners I like to see so ....

shrug

Hey, he makes a hell of a lot more sense at $100k than Empire Maker does.
