Boarding in and around Ocala FL

Postby sprucie » Wed May 30, 2007 1:33 pm

I have a possibility to move to FL, and I would like to take the gang with me, aka 3 mares, and a soon to be 2 yo gelding. What kind of boarding rates are offered for rough board in that area? I want to make sure this is going to be feasible before I take the plunge!

Your looking at 20 to 30 per day for the mares. The gelding you might be able to find a flat rate around 500.00. We have had no rain and the hay prices are crazy. Coastal is 9 bucks a bale. So even the back yard people have no choice to rasie there rates as well. You might be able to find someone that wants to rent out there farm or some stalls ect maybe a little cheaper. you can look at ocala4sale.com and see if you can find anything:)

Good luck

You can also try Thebarnbook.com, they have a good classified section with tons of listings for properties. Ocala4sale.com is very good, too.

Serenarider is correct....we have had NO rain, the state is on fire, hay prices are through the roof. Coastal at $9/bale? I can't even FIND coastal....been having to buy T&A @ $12.95/bale. I'm near Tampa, about an hour and a half south of Ocala.

I recently relocated from Pa. to Ocala 18 months ago. I searched high and low for a good, safe reasonable place to board my horse. I finaly found one for a good rate with exceptional care on the Ocala/Summerfield boarder. My gelding has been there now for a year and couldn't be happier. He is pasture board but with full board amenities for $250. Stall board is $300. I will check back and if you are still intested I can email the info.

I'd be interested in that farm to send my mare next year. My e-mail is [email protected]. Thanks!
