Valid Appeal/Admiration

Postby llbean » Fri Sep 24, 2004 1:25 am

It's interesting how well Valid Appeal has done with mares decended in the female line from Admiration (14-b).

Either Admiration through her daughter Addenda (see Successful Appeal); daughter Miranda (see Valid Expectations, Little Sister, Littleexpectations, Valid Wager, and Miss Bold Appeal, the dam of Mother Goose, Acorn , and Test winner Jersey Girl); or other daughter Pretty Polly (see Miz United States, 1st My Dear Girl St.- [R])

It might be unconnected, but Valid Appeal has also done pretty well with mares decended of Athena (see Milky Way Gal), or her full sister Plunder (see Meadowlands Cup (GI) winner KJ'S Appeal and 6xSW Enjoy the Silence). Of course this probably has to do with Athena and Plunder being by War Relic with a rare cross of Man O' War's maternal uncle Sand Mole as the 2nd damsire (note also a rare full brother of In Reality's son Relaunch's 6th dam Silver Beuaty as the damsire). Still Athena and Plunder are supposed to go back to Berenice (b. 1805) and Nowmepache is supposed to go back to Berenice's full sister Boadicea (b. 1807).

Athens's daughter Roman Goddess is by Olympia out of a mare by War Relic; making a sort of premature inside-out on Sucessful Appeal: Successful Appeal having War Relic/Olympia 5x5/5.

Interesting -- hadn't noticed that pattern, although Valid Appeal and the family of Nowmepache have obviously been a good cross. Has there been much of any attempt to cross Valid Expectations or Valid Wager with Foolish Pleasure in pedigrees since Valid Appeal has typically worked pretty well with Bold Ruler anyway and these stallions are all t/f to *Cuadrilla?

A full sister of Valid Expectations was bred to Farma Way to produce Foolishness, a mare who was placed at 4. It's a bit surprising it hasn't been tried more.
