Blast from the past...

Postby adrienne » Mon Aug 13, 2007 2:00 pm

On Feb. 2nd 2005 I posted very excited because my favorite mare, Shannon Ashley, had her first foal for her new owners, Iowa State University. (Shannon Ashley is still the horse I am riding in my avatar)

Here is a picture from that night:

Well, today driving home from the racetrack (because I have since graduated and work in the racing industry) I got a very excited call from the ISU farm manager:

"08/11/07: ISU's Bravo Cyclone Wins $60,000 Futurity

First Win for Son of Bravo Bull
Third time starter Bravo Cyclone sped from maiden conditions in a record-setting finish to Saturday's $60,000 Iowa Stallion Futurity.

The 2-year-old son of Bravo Bull, bred in Ames by Iowa State University, passed the Sharkey filly, Judy Fay, at 13-1 odds and drew off by two lengths following six furlongs in 1:10.99 for Sandra Rasmussen, the owner of River Ridge Ranch.

Trainer Gary Paulson gave the riding call to jockey Alex Birzer. The winner began his career bankroll with $54,943 he earned from the overall purse.

Abidon, the post time favorite, prevailed in heavy traffic, finishing second. Bravo Cyclone returned $28.40, $8.40, and $3.40. Abidon paid $2.40 and $2.20. Judy Faye, third, returned $2.40.

Another River Ridge runner, Tricky's Tick Tock, set the fastest time to that point last year's thirteenth running in 1:11.04.

Official order of finish: Bravo Cyclone, Abidon, Judy Faye, Incidental Affair, Hesablumin."

Just goes to show that if you REALLY pay attention to this board, you might have had a $28.40 win ticket ;)

Thanks!

I believe this is ISU's stakes winner for their breeding program.

The ISU farm manager is going to flip out when she realizes that they're getting a nice breeder's check... hopefully that will encourage the animal science department to preserve the equine program.
