However, I doubt this thread will get a lot of posts. After all, he didn't win the Kentucky Derby so who cares (said sarcastically). Didn't you know that people only care when Derby winners get hurt?
i care and i'm sure the people i bet with will care when they hear he broke down. we don't see much other than the race at the otb so this is breaking news to me. i was hoping we could get through the day w/o misshap.

Not sure if that is the case. Especially for George Washington, for a European horse this forum seems to have spent a lot of time discussing several of his merits or lack thereof, and with his connection to the Jacksons even more so. It is so sad when a horse breaks down, especially one that has been followed so extensively.
I feel for the Jackson's, they bred two extremely talented horses and now their going to be famous in the negative because they both broke down. These people breed for stamina, durablitity and soundness. It's unfortunate that both colts broke down in their prime. They were both trained by talented horsemen who don't use drugs, and they both took bad steps that led to their demise.
I feel bad for George Washington's connections.

Such a beautiful horse and a fine representative of Danehill gone. I feel so bad for O'Brien and his people too. They're devastated as you'd expect. I was looking forward to seeing him get a 2nd chance as a stallion. We get six of his babies. If anybody has a way of finding out the mares I'd love to know.

In Britain they called him 'Gorgeous George'. He was a magnificent horse, and his personality, talent and looks made him a great advertisement for the sport. In Britain and Ireland there will be a lot of sad people today.
I personally am sad for all the horses who break down on the track, from the lowest claimer to the greatest champion, and I only hope that George was not in pain for very long.
