YouTube and Racing Videos

Postby K~2 » Thu Jan 03, 2008 6:22 pm

Well I was recently perusing YouTube, and was amazed at the number of older racing videos that are on it.

I even stumbled upon my stallion's granddam's Acorn S. win

Any other favourites?

I personally like the ones on Man O' War. Gives me chills just watching them sometimes. I wish I had been around to see him run!

Just type in some of your faves, and they could be there. I have been searching for a race that Broad Brush was in, they say he swung out to the rail near the fans, and a guy started waving his Daily Racing Form at him, got him straight, and he won. Can't find it, but I have been told the stroy 15 times. Damn.

Any help out there?

Dray33, I've been looking for that Broad Brush race also. It was the 1986 Pennsylvania Derby. I saw the race live and could not believe my eyes. He had the race in hand and bolted to the outside rail on the turn home. He disappeared from the TV screen. As they were showing the new leaders, out of nowhere on the left side of the TV screen comes this flash. It was Broad Brush easily retaking the lead and winning going away. Remarkable.

I have that race on VCR tape somewhere. It was hysterical. It was well known that Broad Brush was tough to ride. He couldnt make the lead early because he'd pull himself up. Well, in the Pa. Derby he made the lead going into the far turn. You could see he was going to do something....he ears when up,and he switched to his outside lead half way around the turn. He didnt bolt as much as he just went straight, like he figured the race was over, and he wanted go out the chute at the top of the lane. He nearly went to the outside rail. Angel Cordero whacked him on the side of the head...the entire field passed him on the inside. He got him in gear and we won the race. Was absolutely remarkable.

Would really appreciate specific logons on Man O'War's races;
on Dancers Image's Kentucky Derby and Native Dancer's Belmont Stakes.
Thank you so much for your assistance.

Jorge, here are a few of the YouTube videos dedicated to Man O' War:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmGcgrxmy4Y

--more of a montage of pictures of the great horse...

These are two videos of his match race with Sir Barton:

As for Kentucky Derby films, I suggest you go to the Kentucky Derby website:

http://www.kentuckyderby.com/2004/

Go to "Derby History" then "Derby Charts". Enter a year and the chart will pop up. Check to see if there is "Watch the Kentucky Derby (Year) race replay!" on the page. Click on it and there you go with a Derby replay. I think the films start with the 1928 Derby.

Hope this helps!

We are big Slew fans too, Roke!! Sandy let us see him in the Fall before his last year. It was arguably the highlight of my wife's life. Even to my untrained eye it was obvious that he had a "presence" and definitely knew who he was.

Congratulations on "leading poster" status, BTW. :D

A race I'd love to see is last month's race in which Premium Tap's rein broke and he still won. It's the Crown Prince Cup according to pedigreequery and I haven't been to find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I could find it?
