First foal of 2005

Postby halo » Mon Jan 03, 2005 11:13 am

We had our first foal at the farm the morning of January 1, a filly by Vindication. She had her fuzzy jammies on, so she must have thought she was foaling in Kentucky. Sure glad her momma watched the calendar closely.

hi halo

I'm astonished that Hill n Dale allowed a mare to be bred so early as to risk a possible December foal...especially by a first year stallion...and of such magnitude.

WOW...close call.

Best to you...Happy New Year.

Congrats, Halo! Guess your luck really fell on the right side of the calendar. What a great headstart on the year. Any pics yet? :D

Fos, there was no close call involved as far as Hill n Dale was concerned, as the mare was bred on February 15 of last year. She foaled extremely early and we were fortunate that the filly is strong and healthy. Probably also a good thing she was foaled in Florida, as she can enjoy our terrific weather. I dont feel I can divulge the dam of the foal as yet, as she is a client mare, and I respect the privacy of the owner. I have seen 4 other foals that were born this weekend at other farms, so the deluge is upon us. Ill check on posting pictures.

Hope the owner says OK -- course, the owner can probably get pics in the major bloodstock mags too with Vindication being as hot an item as he's been.

Yikes, halo, you're lucky the filly was healthy, being that premature. I have a mare that was bred on Feb. 22nd last year. I hope she holds on a little longer than your mare did. :)

Vindication was one of my favorites at Hill 'n' Dale. Though he was out of my price range, several people showed up to see stallions at the same time, so we all got to watch.

whoa, Feb 15 is our target date to start breeding... hope we don't get any "three week wonders"... (wonder why she was three weeks early?) Good luck!
