Does anyone know what range of prices the horses consigned there might bring?
Is anyone familiar with any of the horses or trainers there?
Thank you

As for range, I'd say the prices will be pretty cheap. The purses in Ohio are sort of pathetic, so the sale isn't going to draw any top players or big money. There are usually some decent horses but you have to do some weeding to find them, IMO.
I know a couple of trainers there... I know a little bit, and I mean very little bit, about one broodmare offered in the sale... don't know anythng else as far as particulars. I haven't even finished going through the catalog yet... maybe I'll do that while I'm watching the Skins game tonight. What are you looking for?
Madelyn, are you going to the sale?

I would be happy to go if there is something someone wants, I didn't even know about it. Is the catalog online? I may end up going anyhow, I am skipping the killer sale tonight, just too tired and too much sewing to do. Sweet husband has been working so hard the knees are gone in about six pairs of jeans.....
Also, I sold one riding horse today and have a deal on another possibly for next week (yaayyyy!!). The "drought" is over...

I'm not familiar with COTH, but we sell Indiana bred and sired Thoroughbreds. We have weanlings, yearlings, racing aged horses, sometimes we have broodmares for sale, although we don't have any at the moment... you can see what we have available on our "for sale" page on our website, www.Atalanta-Acres.com.
Karie I have a link to an old win pic with an Iroquois Park thought you might be interested in...

The prices from last years sale were dismal. Alot of the yearlings and weanlings went cheap (alot less than $1000). The highest price was 20,000 for a broodmare. But most were well below $2500. There are a couple 3=4 yr old geldings in the sale that will probably not be too much. If you dont find something let me know, I have a 16.1 hand Irish Tb mare for sale.
fernhollow, I don't post on COTH (don't know what that is) I retrain/sell OTTB's, also have a couple of stallions and some mares (only one in foal for '05 but we just got this farm in April). I also get horses from other local sources.
As for the "killer" sale, it is the second and fourth Monday of the month in Shepherdsville, KY. Once in awhile there are TB's, not often. Any given Monday, there are 250+ equines, there might be 1 TB.. or not. Prices are not much different than straight off the track (meat goes high now, so they are $500+) and oftentimes they are (a) without papers (b) aced (c) ankles, tendons, etc. That being said, I have gotten some really nice horses there. You have to be willing to get there by about 4pm, stay until 2 or 3 in the morning, etc., every second week. Lately, also, there have been some really nice "cowboy warmbloods" (QH/Percheron crosses) and once in a while a really fantastic hunter pony prospect (I bought one last month). I got a drop dead gorgeous Arabian (reg.) pony there last winter, sold him to a gal who wanted him for equestrian games. I got a couple of reg. American Saddlebreds there, one to-die-for 8 yr old mare with everything but had been starved, took her home, fed her up, lunged/rode her and sold her to a riding school. The other is a sweet gorgeous 2yo gelding I have in now, we are training for dressage. The mare was a $130 purchase in the dead of winter, the gelding was $300 in June (no bidders!!!). It is a very spur of the moment thing, you have to think like a bargain shopper. Go with an open mind and a closed checkbook; it is easier if you have nothing specific in mind. I bought a colt there last winter for a member of the board who needed a baby to keep her baby company, and last I heard he was doing terrific....and I could pretty much guarantee that because there are ALWAYS weanling/yearling colts and fillies...I had a couple of Rocky Mountain babies I got there, also Tennessee Walking Horse; I can't remember all. I think I bought/sold 24 or 26 from there last year, of the 38 I sold last year. The rest were OTTB's.
Roguelet, email me what you have for sale, if I get anyone to send your way I will!

We will be making the trip to the OTBO sale this weekend. I liked it better when the horses were at Beaula...RD is just too far for us who live in NE OHIO. You will see alittle bit of everything go through the OTBO sale as far as TB's go. I'm not sure if the results from last years sale are posted onlione or not.
As for the CHEAP/Meat/Killer sales... theres one every friday at Sugarcreek, Another in Damascas, Ohio, one in New Willington, PA. These are just cheap sales that the meat buyers buy from often. Yes there are a few sound horses that go through the sale...a few sound illnesses as well. I had a friend who bought a TB gelding from one of the sales. I think she paid $300 for him. Nice to look at...was dead within 12 hours. Know of another lady who bought a $200 horse form a cheap sale and the mare she bought looked very warmbloody...was nice of her to infect the ENTIRE barn with Stranggles over the next few weeks. 3 of the 19 horses died. (the sale horse lived) I also know people who have gone to the sales and have done very well with the horses they have purchased. I guess its buyer beware and cross your fingers.
