DOES ANYONE HAVE INFO??

Postby Mikki79 » Mon Sep 15, 2008 3:28 pm

As most of you are aware when it comes to racing i'm about as clueless as they come but i'm okay with that because i'm strong in other areas. I was looking at the brisnet.com and did a search on all of my horses, you know where it shows their pedigree and then earnings, just a general free search. Well I looked up my one horse "take the plunge" a 2001 model and i'm confused on his race record. It says total earning: $154,580 and then lists I guess races and earning right under that with two different dollar amounts. Can anyone explain to me, just so I have some type of understanding what this means and how I read one of these reports? Thanks in advance!!!

Mikki,

I'm not familiar with Brisnet reports (I use Equineline), but if there anything like race reports from Equineline you're probably seeing the two different amounts due to earnings made on dirt and then earnings from turf races. Do you see any notations to that effect? (Dirt/Turf)

I just pulled the info (not the pedigree) and this is what it looks like:

RACE RECORD: Race Record in NA/US
2003 5 4 0 0 $120,053
2004 6 0 1 2 $27,453
2005 6 0 0 0 $1,700
2006 5 0 1 0 $5,374
Totals 22 4 2 2 $154,580 (SSI=2.30)
2003 1st St. Nick S. [O] ($47,093, CT) $72,450
2003 1st Wv V. Moscarelli Mem Br Class S [OR] ($33,750, CT) $67,500
2003 1st West Virginia Futurity [OR] (1 div)($25,578, CT) $39,350
2004 2nd W V Lottery Breeders Classic S. [OR] ($16,875, CT) $75,000
2004 3rd Millard Harrell Memorial S. [OR] ($4,538, CT) $41,250

If anyone can tell me how to read that i'd greatly appreciate it (and probably sleep better too  ) And just a little fun fact, for being a not so bad race horse (at least in my opinion) i'm shocked at how SLOW he is now that he's retrained..... I use him for Western Pleasure and let my 9 y/o daughter ride him because he's one of the calmest horses that I have!!!!

years raced and placing then earning

Example from above:
In 2003 5 starts 4 wins 0 second 0 third earned $120,053 in that single year

Go down each year to get total.

Total 22 starts 4 wins 2 seconds 2 thirds and total earning for his lifetime of $154,580

2003 and 2004 lists the stakes races he placed in and the amount he earned in each stakes race.

Actually, pretty darn good racehorse!!! Congrats on retraining him into another career.

Hope this helps.....

It does! Thanks so much so why do they list two different amounts? ex. ($33,750, CT) $67,500???? I think that is what confused me, I thought I had it figured out until I got to the bottom of the page then :?, ha ha!!!

Here are a couple pictures of him and how great he is, if you can't tell we love him here!!

The first amount is how much he won in that particular race and the second is how much the purse was for.....

So, he won the first number and that amount was taken from the total purse which is the second amount.

Great pics! He looks like such a very good boy!!!! :P

He has a very impressive race record as such a small percentage of horses are multiple stakes winners.

Good for you for giving him a second career! He looks like a natural!!!

The young lady has a helmet on... Good lord Crystal you sound like Martha!!!!! For me wearing a helmet is like teaching an old dog a new trick. When I was young we didn't have to wear helmets so you will not catch me with a helmet on my head. Western riders wear cowboy hats not hard helmets, even gaming at my fair you only have to have a cowboy hat on if you ride western....... We are a stubborn breed...

Here's a cute story. I was 16 years old and never ever ever worn a helmet when riding, breaking, gaming a horse. Well my mom had a super nice but small (only about 14'3 HH) appy stud. She's raised him and worked him for a baby. Well when it came time to saddle break him I was chosen to do it, because my older sister was pregnant at the time so obviously she wasn't going too!!! I went to get on him and decided nope i'm going to get the helmet.... My mother actually told me you don't need the helmet just get over here, he isn't going to do anything. I said no i'm still going to get the helmet. THE ONLY FREAKING TIME I EVER USED A HELMET I GOT THROWN SO HARD IT SHOOK THE GROUND!!!!!!!! My theory is the helmet threw me off balance, !!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!! I just found out through a conversation with his old owner that she'd had his brother (well 1/2) at her house as well and before she knew about our facility had sent him to someone else. I wish i'd gotten his name but she's looking into trying to find out where he is to see if there isn't some way that we can get him as well. I certainly hope his brother ended up in a good home!?!?!?!?!?!

It's wonderful that he has a new life and a loving home. He looks like a great horse! Congrats on giving him a wonderful life after his career!

I hope this helps you find Take the Punges's 1/2 brother. I believe he has two half brother's. The first one is ALPHABET PLUNGE now a 5yo gelding and the other horse is BRADDOCK STREET who is an unraced 2yo colt. The breeder for these horses was James W Casey. The last known trainer and owner for ALPHABET PLUNGE is Roy Wallace. I'm not sure who you got TAKE THE PLUNGE from but his last owner was JARED I OVIEDO and was trained by SCOBBIE SCHNEIDER. I'm not sure if Roy Wallace still has ALPHABET PLUNGE but if he does, I could speak with him for you. On a final note TAKE THE PLUNGE also has an older full sister by the name of PLUNGE FORWARD. She never raced in her career. Mr. James W Casey still has the dam PLUNGE AHEAD. I remember back in 2005 when my rider won first time out in a MSW on ALPHABET PLUNGE. ALPHABET PLUNGE's next race was in the West Virginia Vincent Moscarelli Memorial Breeders' Classic Stake and we finished a game 2nd. Unfortunately, the track was not in the best shape that evening and ALPHABET PLUNGE was put on the shelf after that for almost a year. He went on to win only 1 other race and has not ran since July 2007. We had high hopes for him when he was 2 but he never fully recovered from his injury. Let me know if you want me to speak with Mr. Wallace to find out where ALPHABET PLUNGE is now.

Best regards,
jainct

Thank you for that information! I believe Alphabet Plunge is the one that I was told about but I'd love information on all of them if anyone has any. Especially if there are currently up for sale or looking to be rehomed. I love this horse and will gladly take in his "relatives" to make sure they stay safe.
