Cozzene is gone :(

Postby patrick » Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:22 am

I just learned that Cozzene was put down this morning. He was an awesome horse. I had hoped that after his stallion days were over he would run around in a nice pasture like Lear Fan and Broad Brush. I'm not sure why they had to put him down but I'm guessing it was the cancer he had on his rear which semed to get worse every year.

Oh No!! I LOVED Cozzene. We have an old gelding, a son of his, that is the Image of his sire. He can be a bit of a grumpy old man, but is a great riding horse and harem keeper. I was just noticing the other day, melanomas everywhere back there under his tail etc. Time to break out the bloodroot cream.

I just checked the bloodhorse site and there's no mention of Cozzene but it did state that Princess Rooney was put down due to EPM.......

RIP Coz! One of the pitfalls of the noble grey horse is a high incidence of melanoma....

One of the most beautiful Thoroughbreds that ever lived:

I hope they do a story on him and Princess Rooney in the Breeders Cup program.

Oh, that's just horrible.

We are lucky to have our Cozzene colt that was just born this Spring. I am now thankful we took a chance and bred to him last year.........
