Hard to look past Stellar Jayne.

I'd feel better about Family Business if the race was on turf.

Lenatareese and Adobe Gold, maybe.

I'm wondering why there are no IN bred horses entered in that race? Were there any even nominated?

We sort of keep an eye on the goings on at Hoosier. There are some horses running there, sired by Board Member, who we are now standing here in Oklahoma.

I should go, as it's only 45 minutes away.

I don't know why there are no Indiana breds in the field.

Actually, Hoosier Park has 2 Graded races each year, the Indiana Oaks, always on a Friday, and the Indiana Derby, always on a Saturday (which is a G2). The Indiana Derby entries should be posted today.

We usually get some really good horses coming in for these races, which typically boot our Indiana Horses out of the running. Pass Rush ran in the Indiana Derby, I think he was the first Indiana bred to run in it. This year Edgerrin *might* race in the Derby, he would be only the 2nd Indiana bred to do so. I hope he does... I really like that horse! Of course, when you have your Bob Bafferts and D. Wayne Lucases bringing in horses that are already graded stakes winners (which has happened before) it's hard for our old "homebreds" to get a hoof in the door, so to speak! (High weights are preferred.)

These are both Breeder's Cup races, so some of the purse comes from the Breeder's Cup. Hoosier Park scrambles to come up with the rest of the money to keep these races' Graded status. It's pretty funny... a whole different place on Derby weekend. Usually it's just such a homey track, comfortable and pleasant, kids playing... Derby weekend there will be 3 piece suits and formal evening attire, ladies in high heeled shoes and big hats, and the rest of us in jeans, laughing when it rains... It is fun to see some of the famous horses and jockeys though, Pat Day has come a few times... a celebrity out here in corn country!
