How could that be? I didn't think Phar Lap had an opportunity to sire any offspring, do you mean to say she shared similar ancestry?
Sunline
Phar Lap was a gelding, but interestingly enough, he had 4 full sisters, 3 full brothers, 2 three quarter-sisters, a three quarter-brother and a half-sister.
One of his full sister's, Fortune's Wheel, who incidentally was also the first foal (Phar Lap was the second),
produced a daughter Caliente,
who in turn produced a daughter, Honora,
and continuing on,
Nora Crena,
Honey Carlyle,
McAngus,
Songline,
Sunline.

Laminitis is the knock on the door that no one should have to open. I have dealt with it and it always wins. Once you have identified the problem it is already too late! All the latest equine information and research stll cannot halt it's onslaught. It took the lives of Secretariat and Sunday Silence and when I first read this thread I just hoped that the connections would not allow her to suffer as the chance of a return to a decent quality of life was zero. Why they had to bring in someone to explain the obvious is a mystery but this is not a criticism as I know the feeling of helplessness and the desire to hold on to hope is overwhelming. She was a monster, now her last fight is over! Thanks for the memories Sunny!
