Body Builder

Postby karenkarenn » Sat May 16, 2009 1:10 pm

Hello out there.
I am thinking about using BODY BUILDER for my yearling.
It supposed to have rice bran oil- has anyone used this product before?
Its supposed to be a natural alternative to seroids.

Google Equine Flaxseed and read the chart about using ground Flaxseed to help balance too much omerga 6 with more omega 3.

Rice bran, I believe was said to do the opposite as it adds much more omega 6 than omega 3..

Fish oil was best, flaxseed was second and I belive Canola oil was the third that was recommended, It's been a while but I believe the articel specifically recommended no soybean meal and no rice bran or maybe it was no rice bran oil

interesting read

Great product. Too expensive. Look for bargains on it.

I'm far from an expert but when I read the article administering a daily does of ground flax seed seemed to be the best way to add more omega 3 that omega 6..

One article or sales site did say freshness was important and recommended setting up monthly order for only what I need in a month, which I did..

I forgot the cost but I remember thinking it was reasonable..

All that reading convenced me to put myself on flaxseed which I buy from Trader Joes and Aloe Vera [human grade] which I buy from Wall-Mart.

I'll let you know when I do can half a mile in 48 and start to dapple.

americanlivestock.com has a 22 lb tub of Body Builder 4000 by Pennwoods on sale for $36.95. They offer free shipping if you order over $75, and have a NO FOB CHARGE coupon available through Memorial Day (enter FOB52009 in the coupon field). I just ordered the BB for my yearlings and three older mares that are hard keepers to try it out.

I have used Pennwoods Equine Supreme in the past and it is also a great product.

I LOVE body builder. I switched to MASS last year, but didn't like it nearly as well and have gone back to body builder. I feed what is called flax oil, but is really flax suspended in soybean oil to help balance the omegas. The body builder really give you that finished edge.

I fed Body Builder to my mare that had retained the placenta with her 1st 2 pregnancies. The last 3 (feeding Body Builder starting 2-3 months pregnant) she had no problems!

equiaide will normally cut you a deal if you buy 3 or more bottles. It's not super savings, but it helps.

I have had mixed results with Body Builder. I believe, like many supplemental products, it works with some metabolisms, not so much with others. The one thing I hadmore consistent luck with was creatine. I cannot remember the name of the stuff we used, but it was the first creatine supplement out there, even before they got FDA approval for human usage. You gave a scoop a.m., a scoop 30 minutes prior to work, a scoop 30 minutes post work, and a scoop p.m. for a week, then a scoop am and pm for 3 weeks, then repeated the cycle. It was a major pain in the butt, BUT I put 75# on one yearling and 90# on another the summer I tried it. Made me a believer. But, like the Body Builder,I had more mixed results with the older racehorses needing some weight help!

My kingdom for the "simple fix", lol!
