Last year I presented a home bred Thoroughbred filly (three years old at the time) and she was given the title of Premium mare!!! The judge loved her so much and was eager to know what my plans were for her. She scored in the top five all across North America for Thoroughbred mares.
So this year I would love to get some more Thoroughbred mares to attend the inspection. Let’s show the inspectors what amazing Thoroughbreds are here in North America as they come all the way over from Germany.
The inspection is being held at our farm in Wellandport, Ontario. We already have two horses coming up from New York to attend. So yes, we welcome you southerners too
A bit about the inspection... Each horse enters the ring individually and is stood up in the center of the arena. The horse is then lead at a walk around the ring and then a jog/trot. The horse is then let loose and we get to see it's free movement. The mare is then caught as the inspector tells you what he likes about the horse and gives it's scores on a scale of 1-10. At the end of the day you will be given a score sheet with all the individual scores typed on it.
We provide a fabulous BBQ for all entries (free of charge). If you would like your mare to attend but do not feel comfortable handling it, we have handlers here who can do it for you. We also have stalls available if you need one of them for the day or if you are shipping from a distance you could ship in the day before. All that is required for your horse is the Jockey Club papers, to be clean and have the mane braided (no tail) and be wearing a clean bridle.
You do not need to be breeding your mare to a Warmblood stallion to attend. I have presented most all my Thoroughbred mares, even those that are bred to Thoroughbred stallions. It can help the re-sale value should you ever decide to sell the mare because it gives a potential buyer the option of breeding to a Thoroughbred or a WB stallion. Also we all know that accidents happen to horses. And should a mare become lame later in life and unable to attend an inspection because of it, then you no longer have that as an option. A mare only needs to attend the inspection once in their life and those results are kept on file.
So now who is going to join us?? All mares over the age of 2.5 are welcome. It is being held on Tuesday August 11th. My contact for any questions you do not want to post here is [email protected]. I can also e-mail out reservation forms.
