Can you guess this mare?

Postby Shergar » Sun Aug 09, 2009 3:15 pm

The past several weeks I have been amusing myself with going through stakes races and grouping the winners by their female family. Specifically by their conduit mare.

I have found it interesting that one conduit mare has descendants that have won classic, or major stakes races in just about every country you can think of.

In England her descendants have won the Derby Stakes, The Oaks, 1000 and 2000 Guineas, the St. Leger and the Ascot Gold Cup.

In France they have won 1000 and 2000 Guineas and the Prix Arc d' Triomphe.

Her Descendants have won classic races in Ireland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Czech Republic, Spain Poland and Yuogoslavia.

Her Blood has also spread to South America where her tail female descendants have won the the Oaks, Derby and 1000 Guineas in Argentina. They have also won classic Races in Brazil.

South Africa is also represented with her descendants winning the South African Derby Stakes, Cape of Good Hope Derby and the South African Guineas.

Heading to Australia, she is represented by a Melbourne Cup winner and a Golden Slippers winner. She even has a descendant that has won the New Zealand Cup.

Heading North, she also has a Japan Cup winner that is tail female to her.

In Canada her descendants have won the Queen's Plate, Breeders Stakes and the Prince of Wales Stakes.

Here in the States she is the ancestress of a few BC winners. However she is NOT tail female to any winners of the US Triple Crown races.

I have only researched around a 150 or so stakes races in the the USA and the world, so I am sure there is a lot more that her tail-female descendants have accomplished. I plan on doing a lot more research in this area. (Yeah, I'm only working part time right now, so I have way too much time on my hands.)

Her descendants have won other major races in England, Ireland and France, but too many to list.

There is no monetary prize attached if you can guess who this mare is. Juat a fun little game to see if anyone can guess.

Regards,

Shergar

Americus Girl has had an international impact that is probably similar if not better, but Risen Star won US Classics so she doesn't fit your requirements.

My next guess would be Pretty Polly.
