Hey, I all of a sudden just remembered the track I think my mare Here's Suds raced at in Florida - but I haven't heard it mentioned in a long time, is it still around? And, I don't know how to spell it - pronounced "Hi-a-lee-a"
I have been wanting to find the track she raced and won at to find old archive photos of her wins. I remember her owner talking about Ocala, but don't know if that's where she trained, was bred, or if that's where the track was located.
I can't go to track sites at work, but if anyone has any information about who to contact at Hialeah for archived photos, etc., I'd be grateful.
Cool. Amazing what's toasting back there in my old brain.

Hialeah is the correct spelling, not just for the track which is in Miami, but for the section of Miami just north of the airport where all those tourist murders occurred. Hialeah Race Track is listed with a phone number (305) 885-8000 -- I thought it had closed down a while back but it shows up in Mapquest. The other tracks down there are Calder Race Course (in Opa Locka) and Gulfstream Park (in Hallandale).

Hey, Green Hills. I am out of the loop keeping up with tracks, etc., so I appreciate it. I know I hadn't heard anybody mention Hialeah. What's going to happen to the facility. I wasn't able to tell from that article, looked like it closed a couple of years ago.
Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket!
Hialeah went under after the 2001 racing season, a victim of the struggle for racing dates in South Florida with Gulfstream Park and Calder as the other players. I haven't heard of any plans to try to revive it for 2005.

There's been a lot of wishful thinking in some folks...but I doubt that it will happen.
