Premonitions, anyone?

Postby ZiaLand » Thu Feb 10, 2005 12:29 pm

OK, I'm almost embarassed to post this because it's kinda silly, but just for the fun of it...

I had a dream last night that a horse I know next to nothing about, sired by a stallion I know next to nothing about, is going to win the Kentucky Derby. (How the heck this idea got into my subconscious mind is just beyond me! LOL)

The horse's name is Better Than Bonds. As far as I know I don't believe he's even nominated. He's sired by Sweetsouthernsaint who I believe is a Saint Ballado line sire. That's about the extent of my knowledge on these two. I don't have a clue why this thought would materialize in my head in the middle of the night...but there you have it.

In the probably one billion-to-1 longshot that this horse ends up winning the Derby...remember you heard it here FIRST! LOL

(Just for the record...I also predicted Birdstone would win the Belmont. Of course, that didn't come to me in a dream...)

Soooo, has anyone else had any Derby premonitions?

Hi laurie. I have only one. I saw this colt at this years Keeneland Select Yearling sale. By "Forestry" out of "Christmas in Aiken". He looked at me and said "to bad you cant afford me, because he was going to win the KD". He's been named "Mangrove". Watch for him later this year.... he was sold to the sheik for 1.1 million, and he looked the part.

Here's another one of those funny dream things...

A couple of weeks ago when we were waiting for our mare to foal, I had a dream that she had had a bay filly with a big star and two hind socks. The next day, the farm manger called and asked if we wanted to come and see the new foal--not out of our mare...this was someone else's.

When we got there I saw a bay filly with a big star and two hind socks, just like in my dream. Our own filly was born a week later, plain bay, no white anywhere.

I really Love the stallion Sweetsouthernsaint, and i think he is going to be something as a stud.
so I will keep an eye on your "dream" horse
I had a dream once that was was suppost to breed to dove hunt and name the foal hunted lark? my mare died foaling so I gave the breeding to him away? never got that foal. 8) but after reviewing Dove hunt's pedigree the very next day after my dream I saw that his dam was hunts lark weird..I must of known it all along.

<<A couple of weeks ago when we were waiting for our mare to foal, I had a dream that she had had a bay filly with a big star and two hind socks.>>

I have had 3 dreams like that and I've always been right. I don't tell anyone usually because I don't really believe in that stuff... However, I get color, gender, and a general idea of body markings and basic conformation.

The first was a grey arabian mare bred to a bay warmblood. I wanted a FILLY! I had a dream about a little dark colt with no markings. Sure enough.

The second was a liver chestnut saddlebred bred to a bay stallion. I wanted a chestnut :/ I never had dreams about this mare's foals. She slipped three years in a row. Finally I had a dream in January. A bay filly with long legs and a big white star. Sure enough - she foaled in May a bay filly with long legs and a big white star.

http://www.public.iastate.edu/~abrant/tomanddusty.jpg These two babies, Tomboy at 2 years and Dusty at 1 year.

I wanted Shannon to have a CHESTNUT FILLY (what's the point of having a flaming orange horse if it can't make more flaming orange horses?). I had a dream about 3 weeks before she foaled about a leggy light bay colt. I was joking around at work that week about having a prophetic dream about a bay colt. We all laughed - no one has brought it up since <g>.

So I do believe in prophetic dreams! I'll remember that name and hopefully win enough to pay off some college loans <EG>.

Thanks dray! When is Queen Mama due?

The bad thing about my dream was that the filly I dreamt about--that isn't ours--is really pretty. I wouldn't mind having her at all.

Zialand,

I would suggest making a "future" bet on your horse. Unfortunately the one running at tracks this weekend will include your horse in the "Field" at terrible odds. I suggest calling Vegas or offshore. I would definitely bet this, your odds should be 250-1. Good luck. Make sure you get a bet on the individual horse, not the "field".

$10 could go a long way on a good dream.

I kind of had a preminition. Well I am here from Washington state and I would just like to see a horse from WA run in the KD. Well my mind began to wonder off after I saw Fit & Tough win his last allowance race at Santa Anita, and I have come to believe myself that he can run with the "big boys". I know it will probobaly not happen and he is not even in the future books but I just have had this feeling that Richard Mandella needs to give him a fair chance at it. It would also be cool because he is by a pretty unknown sire (outside of Washington) in which I think he is an extremely exceptional sire. (If I see a horse by Hes Tops, I will normally bet on it) I tend to do pretty good with that thiery too! I am just patiently waiting to see him enter the series, cause if he does I know I will wager right away to get huge odds!

With the quality of stallions going to Washington recently, I think it's just a matter of time before a Washington-bred wins one of the classics. Maybe this is your year, Devin.
