Jess Jackson wants best two out of three races!

Well, what do you think about that?

I think two out of three would be more definitve. But hopefully all the connections involved will put their horses first and keep them safe. Does anyone know if Zenyatta's people have responded to this new Jess Jackson thing?

Even though I believe Zen will show she is top horse, personally I think this clause actually benefits her more. IMO 1 1/8 is RA distance perfection. When Z gets to stretch a bit more is when she shows me she is beyond anything else out there. :)

It was sure fun to watch a series of races when it was Affirmed vs. Alydar. To me, this seems equally as interesting.

That would be interesting. Have one race at a mile and an eighth, one at a mile and a sixteenth and one at a mile and a quarter to keep it fair. Maybe even throw in a synthetic track race. But would tracks put up the money for this? Oaklawn did but I don't see anyone else following suit. Maybe Santa Anita will. But the horses health does come first and RA is pushed past her limit in a mile and a quarter it could be disastrous

Great fun to watch, but will settle nothing.

Who was the greatest horse: Alydar of Affirmed? Both great horses. So are Z and RA. On a given day, either one wins.

hi tbrace

When you ask the question (re racehorses)...who was the greatest horse: Affirmed or Alydar? I would respond as follows (when comparing those two to each other)...

...there was the GREAT Affirmed...and the near-great Alydar.

FACT is, the GREAT Affirmed was the Triple Crown Winner, the Champion Two-Year-Old, the Champion Three-Year-Old, the Horse of the Year two times (and in the shadow of no other).

As for near-great Alydar...he was none of the above.

Best to ya.

I'm pretty sure they don't do a best of three match in the triple crown races! Whomever wins, wins, period.....

Does not necessarily mean they are the best horse. It is a crap shoot, in my humble opinion, one horse is older than the other, and frankly, I would be very happy to have either one in my barn!

Both horses are great racers, and that is all that matters!

Actually, the Triple Crown is kind of a a best of three and a two-one split on these propised three races would be similar to a horse winning two legs to the triple crown. I also believe this would be a boom to the industry unless of course one of them breaks down.

Where do you suppose the three races would be run? and at would they vary the distances like the Triple Crown races.. All on dirt or maybe one on grass??

I think that if Zenyatta won two out of 3, then Jess Jackson would want three out of 5.

I disagree, 2 out of 3 is a good proposal and would be accepted by most, especially if one of them does three out of three

Of course another race will be needed. If my horse was either and they went into that first race in top form and got beat, I'd definitely want at least one more. The stars are still in the eyes after the first defeat and then after the second the smoke settles in lol!!

Personally I wish they did 3 races same distance over artificial, turf, and then dirt. Distance at least a 1 1/8 to 1/1/4.
